Race 9: RUSH IN(9)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: TIMEDTOPERFECTION(7)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY - Trainer: Corne SPIES

TIMEDTOPERFECTION(7)
TIMEDTOPERFECTION has acquitted herself well in stronger company on the Highveld for quite some time. However, she is no stranger to this province and she has a solid c & d record. The daughter of Judpot has the nasty tendency to jump slowly but she drops in class and should be a major force on her return to the 'Windy City'.

Race 3: OVER DRIVE(2)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

OVER DRIVE(2)
CHILLI AFFAIR has been consistent since trying this surface but has perhaps been given too much to do in those efforts, particularly when coming from off the pace for 3rd behind Courageous King (placed at handicap level since) over 1900m three runs back. It is really encouraging that top jockey Delpech retains the ride on the five-year old gelding and the pair may adopt different tactics from pole position tonight. The son of Western Winter should be highly competitive in this ordinary field.

TOP BET
Race 4: CLEAR SAILING(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

CLEAR SAILING(1)
CLEAR SAILING is extremely well treated on today's weight terms and the chestnut mare has this pinnacle event at her mercy on her peak showing. She was expected to fare better in a c & d feature against male rivals last time but probably still felt the effects of her impressive penultimate win. The form of her last start was given a lift when the 3rd placed entrant Sir Duke captured a local minor feature last Friday. The three-year olds have it all to do at the weights but are useful sorts who could still chase the top rating home.

Race 7: BEATABOUTTHEBUSH(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

BEATABOUTTHEBUSH(1)
The local BEATABOUTTHEBUSH's record speaks volumes of her fantastic ability and she got her winning run back on track with an eye-catching last performance in a mile feature, six weeks ago. It comes as little surprise that the four-time winning daughter of Gimmethegreenlight is best in at the weights on official ratings and she should take a power of beating. Her pedigree suggests that she will easily handle this rise in distance. Her main dangers could be the out of town visitors though and trainer Glen Kotzen has a decent hand with ANGEL OF ATHENS and WHITE ROSE.
VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: THUNDERWOOD(5)
Jockey: Nicholas PATEL - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

THUNDERWOOD(5)
THUNDERWOOD has gone one year without victory but that win-drought may be coming to an end today, particularly if the Greeff inmate reproduces his useful last c & d showing at a much higher level. The son of Horse Chestnut ran on steadily for 5th in that handicap and quite astonishingly, he was penali- zed four pounds in his merit rating since. He is drawn in midfield and it is worth noting that his jockey captured last Friday's final event for this stable.
