Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: SIYAKWAMUKELA(4)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

The good-looking SIYAKWAMUKELA made the expected improvement when he tried this surface on his local debut recently. The son of Miesque’s Approval ran on steadily for 3rd in a competitive field over seven furlongs and he can build on that progress. His pedigree indicates that he will relish this ten furlongs and he can perform much better than he did over this trip on the Highveld on Spring Day. He meets an ordinary bunch.

Race 3: TAKAMAKA(1)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY – Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

There may be a lack of a decent gallop in this ordinary maiden contest & the top selection, TAKAMAKA’s swift turn of foot should come to the fore. The daughter of Atso needed both her comeback runs in the province and she will be cherry-ripe this evening. Of course she produced a high class performance on the Highveld over a mile three runs back.

TOP BET
Race 4: FIGARO(1)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Dean KANNEMYER

FIGARO
has decent potential but he was narrowly defeated by a very ordinary sort on his return to the province recently. The Kannemeyer inmate clearly needed that comeback run after an 11 week break and he undoubtedly, will strip fitter this evening. The well-bred son of Silvano will obviously be much sharper and should have little issue with this slight drop in distance. He has gate speed to overcome his wide draw and should make amends.

Race 8: ASTROMAN(7)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Frank ROBINSON

ASTROMAN
has kept his form well in recent outings at this level and he ran on steadily for 2nd over this c & d early last month. The 3rd placed finisher PHOEBUS (3.5kgs worse off) lifted that formline with a subsequent win and this chestnut gelding can certainly go one better with regular pilot Yeni in the irons. The latter is also in good nick and he has the pace to overcome his awkward draw. However, he may find it difficult to reverse the form with the top selection.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY

Race 5: MR ROY(4)

Jockey: Muzi YENI – Trainer: Alyson WRIGHT

The night’s topliner is sponsored by South Africa’s number 1 bookmaker, Hollywoodbets and a classy field of nine entrants head to post contest the highly competitive seven furlong event. In the absence of natural pacesetters, a false gallop is expected and the eventual dictator could profit heavily. It could pay to side with the chestnut gelding MR ROY who went close in his only outing when partnered by Winning Form sponsored top jockey Muzi Yeni. The four-year old had smart credentials prior to his last flop which forced his conditioner to geld him. His last victory came with frontrunning tactics when he kept on well to defeat MONTE CHRISTO (1.5kgs better off) by half a length on the grass. He is likely to adopt similar tactics and it is worth noting that his stable is sponsored by the race sponsors.
