Race 4: WATERBABY(2)
Jockey: Akshay BALLOO – Trainer: Paul REEVES

WATERBABY has shown steady progress in her three runs thus far & she may have just found six furlongs beyond her recently. She weakened late into 4th that day but the 6th placed entrant Spending Spree boosted the formline with a subsequent victory over the runner-up Emerald Gal. This daughter of Argonaut will love reverting to the minimum distance and she can go close with the 2.5kgs apprentice allowance.

Race 5: DARING MISS(2)
Jockey: Bernard FAYD’HERBE – Trainer: Justin SNAITH

DARING MISS
was shown-up in a highly competitive maiden field over this c & d recently but she will be an entirely different proposition here. In fact, she narrowly beat her main market rival, MISS D’ ARAY over this c & d in her penultimate outing and her pole barrier position will make the world of difference. Admittedly, the Snaith inmate has had almost a dozen chances but she can still pull this off today.

TOP BET
Race 6: ZANZIBARIAN(11)
Jockey: Corne OFFER – Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

All the collateral form points heavily in the favour of trainer Brett Crawford’s charge, ZANZIBARIAN, who has just his third racecourse appearance today. The well-related son of Silvano built on his fair debut when he got going late to finish a close 2nd over this c & d in late February. That effort clearly indicated that the bay colt is searching for further but he still finished a length and a half in front of the consistent TIGER WARRIOR and certainly seems to have some class about him. He will relish the likely strong gallop and is definitely one worth following.

Race 7: ANGEL OF ATHENS(4)
Jockey: Donovan DILLON – Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

The Glen Kotzen stable is extremely well-represented in this low-key fillies and mares handicap which should be run at a solid gallop. The yard’s chestnut filly ANGEL OF ATHENS stays well and she caught the eye with a strong finish for a close 4th over nine furlongs in male company last time out. The handicapper’s rather generously docked a pound from her rating and she is still improving. She shed her maiden tag over this distance in the Summer and has huge claims back against her own sex today.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: IN THE JUNGLE(11)

Jockey: Akshay BALLOO – Trainer: Piet STEYN

This competitive handicap should also be run at a strong pace and that could suit the lightly weighted four-year olds, the pick of which is the consistent IN THE JUNGLE from the Piet Steyn yard. The chestnut gelding has finished close-up at similar levels up to a mile for quite some time now and his last formline was boosted when his conqueror Gyre won his subsequent effort last Saturday. This son of Kildonan now receives a 2.5kgs apprentice allowance and he meets the runner-up MEGA SECRET on favourable weight terms for that 0.60 lengths deficit. Of course the top selection shed his maiden tag over 2400m so today’s extra furlong will be right up his alley.
