Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: AZKUR (2)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Gavin van ZYL

LAZKUR has shown promise and she produced an eye-catching last run in a competitive field when trying this distance. She finished just over two lengths ahead of the next placed entrant SPICE QUEEN whom she meets on 1.5kgs worse terms. The longer run-in is sure to suit the daughter of Oracy who has obvious scope for progress.

Race 2: ALRAUNE (2)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM – Trainer: Gavin van ZYL
ALRAUNE clearly found the mile too far for her last time and reverting to sprinting will certainly help her cause. She showed promise prior to that last run and was only outrun late into 3rd in a strong field over seven furlongs in her penultimate outing. It could pay to follow the progress of her stablemate Azkur (runs in race 1) who represents the same formline.

Race 4: ZERODARKTHIRTY (14)
Jockey: S’manga KHUMALO – Trainer: Sean TARRY

ZERODARKTHIRTY drifted alarmingly in the betting market but still produced a high class debut against winners last month. He ran on strongly for a close 2nd behind subsequent Grade 1 placed Whorly Whorly and should have lots more to come today.

Race 6: SAVE THE RHINO (3)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH – Trainer: Ormond FERRARIS

SAVE THE RHINO is a consistent stayer who possibly found the ten furlongs too sharp for him recently and he will be an entirely different proposition today. He is slightly out at the weights on official ratings but his last victory came over this c & d at a similar level earlier his year and he holds obvious claims.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 9: ALAADEL (5)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

This is yet another extremely competitive handicap but the three-year olds could have a decent say despite their big weights. ALAADEL likes this c & d and he wasn’t disgraced at a much higher level from a wide draw last time out. The imported gelding runs well for today’s pilot and should stake a claim from a good barrier.
