Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 3: KUTAMBA (8)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
The juvenile KUTUMBA went off at lengthy odds when she produced an eye-catching debut in a strong line up over this c & d four weeks ago. The speedy daughter of Rebel King only tired late into 4th and that formline was already boosted when the runner-up Winter Watch beat many of today's rivals comfortably next time out. This bay filly should make natural improvement.

Race 4: WINTER BLUES (13)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Louis GOOSEN
WINTER BLUES found some outside betting support when he produced a fair debut in open company over this c & d recently and he should build on the experience. The juvenile gelding is favourably drawn here and once again the booking of Strydom is noticeable.

Race 5: MIESQUE'S RUMBA (5)
Jockey: Sherman BROWN - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS
The Zippa formline could come to the fore here and trainer Leon Erasmus holds a decent hand in this ten furlong maiden contest. MIESQUE'S RUMBA put one over his disappointing stablemate DISCOVEROR over further recently and has definite claims if confirming that performance. This shorter trip is no issue for the top selection.

Jockey: Julias MPHANYA - Trainer: Stephen MOFFATT
The three-year old KIRKCONNEL LASS wasn't disgraced when she made eye-catching late headway in much stronger company on this course two weeks ago but she will prefer this level of opposition. She had a good run of form with today's 4kgs claiming apprentice prior to that and is a major contender from her favourable draw.

Race 7: SHEET WEAVER (1)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Alec LAIRD
The top weight SHEET WEAVER has no stamina doubts and possibly the sticky ground ruined his chances last time. He showed promise prior to that and ran on well for 2nd on his handicap debut despite returning from a lengthy 44 week absence. The inmate from the Alec Laird yard has his peak outing now and he went close in both his ten furlong efforts. He gets the services of 'Striker' and should bounce right back to best.
