Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: KIMBERLEY STAR(4)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

There are some useful juveniles on display in this contest and an exciting finish could be on the cards. KIMBERLEY STAR expectedly relished the extra ground as he smashed a good field over this c & d in the maiden ranks a fortnight ago. He appears a smart type in the making and should be ready for today’s rise in class.

Race 3: TAMASHI(3)
Jockey: Craig ZACKEY – Trainer: Tara LAING

TAMASHI is a lightly raced import who made eye-catching progress in a five furlong sprint on her local debut a fortnight ago. The former Cape resident was returning from a 14 week break so will be fitter and clearly prefers going over the mile. She has a handy draw to assist her cause in her first run around the right hand turn.

TOP BET
Race 6: PRECIOUS PANSY(8)
Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

PRECIOUS PANSY enjoyed the rise in distance as she ran on strongly for a close 2nd behind BANJO BUZZ over this c & d four weeks ago. She finished exactly 2.50 lengths ahead of the 3rd placed entrant AZUSA and now meets both rivals on 3kgs better terms. The daughter of Pathfork has drawn well and holds huge claims at the weights.

Race 7: LAWS OF SUCCESSI(5)

Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

The Yvette Bremner stable holds a strong hand in this competitive handicap which features some really good types and the likely true pace will ensure a fair result. The riding engagements suggest that the ultra-consistent LAWS OF SUCCESSION is the stable’s pick. This five-year old bay gelding just found the ten furlongs in a slow run event too far for him recently but he is devastating over the mile as his record shows. He meets his prior conqueror STRATOCRUISER on 2kgs better terms for a 2.25 lengths c & d defeat and should turn the tables on that rival from the best draw. The son of Jay Peg could enjoy the run of the race.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 5: LARIMAR(6)

Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

LARIMAR never showed on his moderate local debut on the polytrack but could be a different proposition on the grass. The bay gelding often made late progress in his starts in the ‘Mother City’ up to nine furlongs and this longer run-in should suit him well. He flopped in his only start over this trip but that was in the Winter Derby in yielding conditions last season and he could be the ‘dark horse’ here. The son of Mambo In Seattle represents an in-form combination.
