Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: HERO'S WELCOME (4)
Jockey: Ian STURGEON - Trainer: Doug CAMPBELL

HERO'S WELCOME was completely unfancied but still produced an eye-catching debut in a competitive field over five furlongs on this course a fortnight ago. He was baulked in the closing stages that day but ran on late and this extra furlong should suit him. The bay gelding would have come on with that experience and will benefit from a good draw now.

Race 5: TRIP QUEENS (8)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Glen Kotzen

TRIP QUEENS has been a revelation on this surface and she stepped up in class well with a pleasing last performance behind WIND SINGER over this track & trip. The Tarry inmate produced her customary late burst and is now 1.5kgs better off with her conqueror for the 1.75 lengths defeat. She has a slightly better draw this time around but could really enjoy the 'harsh drivings' of Khumalo.

Race 6: ONLINE (4)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

ONLINE has produced two quality comeback sprints in slightly stronger company on this course and she should go very close tonight. The well-related daughter of Trippi is well drawn at gate 3.

Race 8: CAPE FLING (IRE) (4)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Dean KANNEMYER

This is an extremely competitive handicap blessed with good speed and that will suit the promising CAPE FLING who is expected to enjoy being equipped with blinkers. The imported gelding is unbeaten from two polytrack attempts and he acquitted himself well on the grass recently, albeit only managing 3rd after going off as favourite behind subsequent winner New Fort. The four-year-old runs really well for Delpech.

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

RESTLESS ROGUE found seven furlongs too far for him in his comeback run recently and he will prefer tonight's shorter trip. He has just over three lengths to find on the runner-up KING DJANGO but is 1kg to the good after a four pound drop in his merit rating and he could enjoy racing with blinkers. The bay gelding will strip fitter.
