Race 9: HYAKU(2)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Mark DIXON

The four-year-old ISINGAMOYA is best handicapped in this six furlong contest and she had a pleasing comeback run in a strong line-up on the grass three weeks ago. She was touched off in this race twelve months ago and she has strong claims of going one better from her midfield barrier today. The daughter of Muhtafal will strip fitter now and her yard had a winner in the province last Sunday.

Race 4: AMAZON KING(2)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

The three-year-old AMAZON KING seems best when sprinting and hardly surprisingly he regained some of his better form in recent efforts. He should have gone even closer in his last two sprints but for some late traffic issues and the son of Kahal was just a neck adrift of the veteran gelding KINGSTON BOY (0.5kg worse off) over this c & d in his penultimate start. He can certainly turn things around with the defending champion.

Race 6: COSTA DA SOL(5)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

COSTA DA SOL proved her quality and versatility as she found a powerful finish to beat a decent field over seven furlongs on the Highveld two weeks ago. She isn't too badly treated by the weights in this line-up and her pleasing polytrack performances will stand her in good stead. The daughter of Mogok has definite claims once again.

Race 8: DAWN CALLING(13)
Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE - Trainer: Duncan HOWELLS

The three-year-old filly DAWN CALLING has gone nearly a whole campaign without adding to her maiden victory but she has produced some useful performances along the way and is extremely well-weighted in today's line-up. The daughter of Trippi was outrun late into 2nd by a decent Cape visitor over this c & d recently and she should hold her own from a midfield barrier.

Jockey: Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

With just nine entrants heading to post for this contest, the pace should be crucial and enter the improving three-year-old bay gelding JUST CRUISED IN who is most capable with frontrunning tactics. The inmate from the Gavin van Zyl yard is seeking a hat-trick of wins after he finished smartly to beat subsequent winner New Fort over a mile and a half at Scottsville five weeks ago. He displayed his versatility with a mile triumph on this course prior to that and is still developing his rating. He should make his handy galloping mass count.
