TRAINER Comments:
Trainer Justin Snaith: “Nicely in (at the weights). I purposely missed the Gold Challenge because we didn’t want any more penalties. He needed the Betting Word 1900 badly but is doing good work at home. His biggest asset is jockey Piere Strydom. He’s the right guy for a big race.”

“It’s My Turn likes Greyville and is peaking at the right time while Piere Strydom in the July is worth two lengths.”

MAGIC TIPS (Winning Form) Comment:
A top class four-year old who goes extremely well for ‘Striker’ and had a decent prep coming into this event. He will certainly strip fitter from that ‘1900’ showing and is of course fondly remembered for his solid 4th in last year’s race. The Dynasty gelding is only 0.5 kg better off with no. 7 on that run but finished comfortably ahead of that rival in the Met despite his below-par showing. His ‘master tactician’ should have him right up there turning for home and the pair should be highly competitive.

Verdict: Gutsy campaigner, well-weighted, top jockey up, can upset.

HOLLYWOODBETS Comments:

  • This will be IT’S MY TURN second’s crack at the Vodacom Durban July. He finished 4th in 2016, just 2.35 lengths behind THE CONGLOMERATE.
  • IT’S MY TURN was bought for R400,000 and has to date accumulated over R1.4 million in stakes.
  • IT’S MY TURN has run at Greyille four times, and has finished 10th, 2nd, 4th, and 3rd.
  • Trainer Justin Snaith has trained two Vodacom Durban July winners – Dancer’s Daughter (who dead heated with Pocket Power in 2008) and Legislate (2014 – who won on objection).
  • Jockey Piere Strydom has ridden four Vodacom Durban July winners – London News (1996), Trademark (2001), Pomodoro (2012) and last year’s winner THE CONGLOMERATE (2016).
  • Both Pomodoro and The Conglomerate jumped from the widest draw when ridden to victory by Piere Strydom.
  • It’s My Turn will jump from draw 17. There has only been one Durban July winner from this draw – Beau Art in 1980.
