JOCKEY Comments:
Aldo Domeyer: “Krambambuli is a nice horse who stays the trip but unfortunately he has a bad draw. There is always a ‘dark horse’ in the race and I am hoping that he is that.”

TRAINER Comments:
Trainer Justin Snaith: “Has not come off the bit in his last two wins. I know it was against weaker but he has done nothing wrong. It will not be easy at the weights and he will need a pace. I think he will tuck in at the back of the field to save energy and look for a strong finish.”

When asked about the draw – “I’m not worried about the draw – most of the big races I’ve lost in Natal have been from inside draws and the July is often a rough race. I know this is a hard ask for Krambambuli but if it turns into a hard-run affair, with everyone bumping everyone, he could run into the money.”

MAGIC TIPS (Winning Form) Comment:
A top class stayer who has struck up a great partnership with this year’s hottest jockey. The bay gelding hasn’t disgraced himself over similar distances in the past, including finishing just under three lengths adrift of subsequent Met winner Whisky Baron over nine furlongs (1800m) three starts ago. His conditioner will have him fit despite the ten week absence. He has won from the start & can be included.

Verdict: Classy stayer, slow pace a concern but red-hot jockey up.

HOLLYWOODBETS Comments:

  • Aldo Domeyer will be riding in only his 2nd Durban July. He rode Punta Arenas in 2013 and finished 12th.
  • In the same year (2013), Domeyer rode Martial Eagle to victory in the J&B Met.
  • Trainer Justin Snaith has trained two Vodacom Durban July winners – Dancer’s Daughter (who dead heated with Pocket Power in 2008) and Legislate (2014 – who won on objection).
