Conor McGregor v Floyd Mayweather | Sunday 27 August | Las Vegas | 05:00am televised

It’s crazy to think that this fight will bring in only two million Dollars less than the Mayweather / Pacquiao bout as there’s no title on the line and this is essentially just an exhibition fight. Both fighters. The two men are set to walk away with a nine-figure pay out, from pay per view sales, endorsements, sponsors and ticket sales.
The main reason this fight is set to be so lucrative is due to the hype that both men have created over social media. McGregor was the first to fire a shot through social media when he launched a series of tirades Mayweather’s way. Mayweather responded and McGregor finally got the match he wanted.
While we all know McGregor is a prolific MMA fighter, he will have to demonstrate he’s just as lethal with only his fists as Mayweather only agreed to the fight if it was under boxing rules.

The Irishman has set the MMA scene alight being the only UFC fighter to hold two weight division titles at the same time. McGregor started boxing during his early youth days around the age of nine. During this time he became the All-Ireland youth champion.
McGregor moved to MMA at sixteen and from that point on he’s become a household name. Known for his smack-talk before a fight, McGregor went from claiming welfare checks to raking in Millions of Pounds per year.

Incorporating Jiu-jitsu and other peculiar forms of training into his game, McGregor is one of the fittest fighters of his generation.

His trainer John Kavanagh is confident that McGregor will surpass one of the most technically defensive boxers to have stepped into a ring, with Kavanagh citing McGregor’s unorthodox style and unpredictable movement as the two biggest weapons in his charge’s armoury.

Profile:
Dubbed as the best ‘pound for pound boxer of all time’, Floyd Mayweather Jr. sits at 49 wins and zero defeats. He is an incredibly decorated fighter, with world champion titles in five different weight divisions.
Mayweather is coming out of retirement to fight McGregor and his plan is to make it to 50 without loss and surpass Rocky Marciano’s record – which he currently equals (49 – 0) – is a major draw card for boxing fans. Mayweather might see this as an easy opportunity to surpass Rocky’s record by facing a fighter from a different sporting code but he should not underestimate the hard as nails Irishman.

Round Group Betting:
Mayweather to win in 1 – 3 rounds 8/1.
McGregor to win in 1 – 3 rounds 8/1.

Verdict: McGregor 7/2
Mayweather’s last fight was in 2015 and McGregor has had four fights since then. The Irishman (75%) has a higher knockout percentage than ‘Money’ (53%). Connor is 12 years younger than Mayweather and has the reach and height advantage over the boxing powerhouse. With nothing to lose as well as age, height and reach in his favour, McGregor could win this bout by K.O.
