Four Players to Watch Ahead of The NBA Season

We take a look at four players to watch out for during the upcoming NBA season.

The addition of Kevin Durant to the Golden State Warriors gave them an air of invincibility against their opponents. Lebron James narrowly missed out in his third gold ring, while Stephen Curry three-pointers swished the Warriors to their second NBA title. Away from the Warriors, James Harden's valiant efforts for the Houston Rockets raised their standards dramatically.

Profile:
James Harden, since moving to point guard for the Rockets has added more character as well as points. His versatility and killer instinct on attack allows him to find holes in some of the best defences in the game.

The king of the step back, Harden’s playmaker abilities, and ability to drive into the lane creating assists for his team saw him average close to 10 assists a game.

Harden leads his defence well and he’ll want to finally try and win a second NBA title next season.

Kevin Durant is one of the most prolific scorers of the 21st century. KD’s performances cannot be ignored, he scored the second highest amount of points - 176 - in the five-game series final against Cleveland.

The small forward is slick, slim built, and is almost a walking giant as he stands at 2.06 metres, making it effortless for him to slam dunk, and shoot three-pointers from range.

His defence is just as impeccable as he blocks offensive attacks with ease. Durant averages 25 points and five steals per game. Durant ended the 2016-17 NBA Finals as MVP, and won his first NBA title.

Profile:
The name on everyone’s lips for three seasons, Steph Curry, is one of the pivotal players who led Golden State to their second gold ring collection.

The point guard leads by example with his dribbling, assists, and shooting from range capabilities.

Curry keeps shattering records and with more seasons to go, it seems there is more in store from the baby-faced assassin.

Curry is compared to the likes of Kobe Bryant, Jordan, and Dwayne Wade. The man doesn’t know how to stop scoring three-pointers from anywhere on the court, averaging 25 points, 1.8 steals, and equipped with an incredible jump-shot.

Curry is one to watch come next season as Golden State will want to make it three NBA titles.

Profile:

King James the man who ended the Cavaliers 52-year trophy drought in 2016, will be out for another NBA title next 2017-18 season as he lost out to his formidable counterparts, Steph Curry and Co.

James played four seasons for Miami heat before a highly publicized move to Cleveland. Lebron James single-handedly led Miami to win back to back seasons in 2012, and 2013, notching up MVP titles in both years.

James ended this season with an average of 26.4 points per game, with an average of 8.7 assists per game. James will go down in the history books as alongside the greats. His ability to control a game, drive into the lane and score almost at will is unsurpassed, his defence chase-down blocks have won his team crucial games, especially the 2016 five-game series finals against the Warriors.
