Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: ENDOFMARCH(5)
Jockey: Aldo DOMEYER  - Trainer: Candice BASS-ROBINSON

The Ben-Hur c & d formline features prominently in this competitive opening event. ENDOFMARCH went off as the favourite when he just failed to reel in his stablemate in yielding conditions that day and can make amends here. The Bass-Robinson inmate will be aided by a good draw and he should continue to progress.

ENDOFMARCH(5)

Race 2: DOLLAR TRACTOR(1)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

DOLLAR TRACTOR's six furlongs experience should prove crucial in this juvenile contest where he is expected to take a power of beating. The son of Captain Al is above-average and he wasn't disgraced at feature level over this c & d last time out. He drops heavily in class today and renews his rivalry with the improving WEEKEND WARRIOR who of course attempts this distance for the first time.

DOLLAR TRACTOR(1)

TOP BET
Race 5: CORTADA(3)
Jockey: Lucian AFRICA - Trainer: Brett CRAWFORD

In stark contrast to the previous event, there should be a strong pace here and CORTADA is expected to follow-up on his recent victory. The Marshall trained bay gelding is in the form of his life and he drew off to record an impressive triumph over WIND RIVER (0.5kg worse off) over this c & d last time out. The 3rd placed entrant Prince Alfred boosted the formline with a game subsequent win over a strong line-up. This Var gelding was raised four pounds for his exertions but he clearly has more to offer.

CORTADA(3)

Race 7: VERDIER(7)
Jockey: Weichong MARWING  - Trainer: Adam MARCUS

VERDIER wasn't disgraced in back-to-back runs behind Winter Series victor African Night Sky and the well-related Var gelding is nicely handicapped today. He had promising prior post maiden form and will relish this drop in distance. The inmate from the Adam Marcus yard is 2kgs better off with fellow three-year old and subsequent winner PEROVSKIA on their Winter Guineas clash and he can exact revenge from his good draw. The top selection finished exactly two and a half lengths adrift of the latter that day.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: INSINYA(4)
Jockey: Sihle CELE - Trainer: Glen KOTZEN

This is a very competitive final event despite the betting market suggesting otherwise and the big improver could be INSINYA from the Glen Kotzen yard. This well-bred daughter of Noordhoek Flyer had two fair comeback sprints and she is bound to enjoy this rise in distance. She has experience around the bend, having produced her career best run on debut at Durbanville and she will be cherry-ripe today. The chestnut filly is well drawn at gate 2.
