Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: HIGH SEAS BEAUTY(2) SCRATCHED
Jockey: Callan MURRAY - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

HIGH SEAS BEAUTY found the mile beyond reach as she struggled over the final furlong of her recent start but her conditioner has wasted little time in reverting to a suitable distance with the daughter of High Chaparral. She had smart prior form, including staying on to finish just over two lengths adrift of impressive winner ROUGE ALLURE (2.5kgs worse off) in her penultimate start. The weight turnaround should bring the pair much closer together today.

Race 3: TANDAVA(2)
Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Stuart PETTIGREW

TANDAVA is versatile and has shown decent ability since relocating from Zimbabwe. His conditioner still seems undecided on the best distance for this chestnut gelding who made eye-catching late headway over the minimum trip in a stronger line-up ten days ago. This extra furlong on a more successful track will suit him perfectly and it is hardly surprising that top jockey Strydom has snapped up the ride.

TOP BET
Race 4: SINGASWEWIN(2) SCRATCHED
Jockey: Ryan MUNGERGrant MAROUN

This is a moderate maiden contest where obvious caution is advised and the narrow first selection goes to the long-time maiden SINGASWEWIN who was carded to race at Turffontein three days ago. The four-year old bay gelding is having his 30th start as a maiden but has done well for quite some time now, including raising his game in handicap company. He did just that when finishing well for a close 3rd over this c & d at handicap level two weeks ago.

SINGASWEWIN (2)

Race 7: CLARET CUP(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Paul PETER

The speedy CLARET CUP was given a 'bold ride' as she raced all alone when beating a decent field over this trip on the inside course at this venue seven days ago. She was understandably hiked four pounds but drops in class and can follow-up with a favourable draw this time around. Top jockey Gavin Lerena has been engaged.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 6: WOTTAHOTTIE(7)
Jockey: Juan-Paul v.d.MERWE - Trainer: Stanley FERREIRA

This is an interesting low-key handicap which may lack a decent gallop and the pacesetter could profit from dictating his own terms. The veteran gelding WOTTAHOTTIE is a capable frontrunner and he brings fair recent sprint form into this event. He holds a decent c & d record though and can cause the upset.

WOTTAHOTTIE (7)
