Race 4: OUR MIRACLE(7)
Jockey: Ryan MUNGER – Trainer: Grant PADDOCK
The former Gauteng resident OUR MIRACLE surprisingly relocated to this province despite an improved last effort on the Highveld. The capable bay mare’s frontrunning tactics should be ideal on this surface and the daughter of Mogok can make a winning local debut at this lesser centre.

Race 5: TITUS(3)
Jockey: Jarryd PENNY – Trainer: Jacques STRYDOM

The veteran campaigner TITUS completely changed his tactics to great effect when he fought back gamely to register a nine furlong victory at this level on this course four weeks ago. He clearly escaped with the minimum punishment for his exertions and should prove to be equally effective over the mile.

Race 6: OLYMPIC POWER(5)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

The day’s topliner is a competitive affair which should be run at a decent tempo. OLYMPIC POWER has posted smart form on this surface since arriving in this province and his game recent victory over further under a big mass indicated that he is ready for today’s step-up in class. The Trippi gelding seems to have escaped with just the minimum two pound penalty and he can follow-up. He boasts a solid c & d record.

TOP BET
Race 7: PLANO(1)
Jockey: Callan MURRAY – Trainer: Tara LAING
The consistent PLANO transferred his form to this province when he stayed on for a creditable 4th over seven furlongs on the grass on his local debut late last month. He finished just under one length adrift of the runner-up Buck Eye (runs in race 5) that day and would have come on with that first local experience. The Silvano gelding will much appreciate this step-up in distance and he is extreme- ly well treated by the weights on official ratings.

VALUE BET

Race 2: CAPTAIN’S DOVE(6)
Jockey:  Xolani NDLOVU – Trainer: Alan GREEFF

CAPTAIN’S DOVE isn’t the stable elect but this former Cape resident made late headway on her fair local debut against male rivals over this c & d last month and she can register an upset. She will prefer the extra furlong and the likely strong pace. Her stablemate MIRANDA FROST also had a fair first run in the province albeit in a much stronger field over five furlongs and of course her conque- ror Via Seattle captured a Gauteng feature subsequently to boost the formline. She is the ‘class act’ in the race but her big mass and the six furlongs are concerns. She should still be competitive though.
