Mohamed Salah
The exciting Egyptian has taken the Premier League by storm since his return from AS Roma and is currently leading the league’s scoring charts. He has also won numerous awards, including the coveted, prestigious PFA Footballer of the Year. In Egypt, he will be fondly remembered for scoring two goals including a late penalty against Congo in the decisive clash to help them qualify for the World Cup for the first time since 1990. He also had a splendid 2017 Africa Cup of Nations where he helped his country reach the final and he is the current African Player of the Year.

Paulo Dybala
A young, promising Paolo Dybala rose to prominence when he scored a first half brace for Juventus against Barcelona in last season’s UEFA Champions League quarterfinal clash to help his side win 3-0. He went on to help his team reach the final but lost to Real Madrid. The Argentine playmaker has already won the Serie A title three times first three seasons with the Old Lady. He will be looking to combine with Messi and company to propel their underachieving country to greatness.

Phillippe Coutinho
The little Brazilian magician is known for his traditional cracking strike with his lethal right foot after cutting inside from the left which has tormented goalkeepers. His move from Liverpool to Barcelona has somewhat tampered with his form but on his day he’s unplayable and he has already developed a good understanding with Gabriel Jesus and Neymar in the national team. He contributed immensely to Brazil’s comfortable World Cup qualification campaign. Goalkeepers will have their work cut out for them when they come up against the trio. Coutinho has won the league title with Barcelona after joining them in the January transfer window.

Luis Suarez
Suarez is a well-known villain and he didn’t complete both the 2010 and the 2014 tournaments due to infamous incidents. Who can forget about the deliberate act of handling the ball that was about to cross the goalline against Ghana and the biting of Giorgio Chiellini respectively. Suarez has won everything possible at club level with Barcelona and boasts a host of individual accolades including the Premier League Player of the Season and the Pichichi Trophy (La Liga top goalscorer), Copa America Most Valuable Player and Dutch Player of the Season. He won the Copa America with his Uruguay in 2011.

Eden Hazard
The 27-year old already has two Premier League titles and a French Ligue 1 title under his belt. Hazard has also won the Premier League Player of the Season award. He is one of the players that make pundits tip Belgium as a surprise package that can potentially cause upsets. I’m expecting the number 10 to be given the creative freedom he needs to flourish around players like Mousa Dembele, Kevin De Bruyne, Romelu Lukaku and Radja Nainggolan.
