The wait is finally over. Club football returns this weekend with round eight of the Spanish La Liga commencing this Friday. High-flying Barcelona lead the standings, winning all seven of their matches played so far – the only team with a 100% record in the league this season. They’ll face their biggest test of the campaign to date when they travel to Madrid to take on Atletico in what should be a thrilling encounter. Elsewhere, Real Madrid travel to Getafe, Athletic Bilbao host Sevilla and third-placed Valencia face Real Betis. There’s plenty of enticing odds on offer, so let’s get straight to it!

The Spanish La Liga returns on the 18th of August. Check out our writer's outright forecast for the 2017/18 campaign. 

We’re still a week away from Spanish La Liga action, but we need some indication as to who will lift the league title at the end of the season. That’s where I come in.

I’ll take a look at who the contenders are for the 2017/18 campaign and who I’m expecting to finish in the top four and qualify for next season’s UEFA Champions League. Also, I’ll take a look at the three new clubs in the league and whether or not they can push for La Liga status and survive the drop.
