Race 3: NISA'S LOVE(3) - TOP BET
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Charles LAIRD

The KZN raider NISA'S LOVE is much better than her very disappointing second she suffered at Clairwood over a mile, last time out. She seemed to have met a classy sort that day but is capable of a whole lot better. The full-sister to last season's Grade 1 SA Classic winner Love Struck, has since joined the Charles Laird team and her new conditioner has wasted little time in equipping her with blinkers. She doesn't meet the strongest of fields in today's line-up and her pedigree suggests that she will love every bit of this extra furlong. The blinkers could make a huge difference and she has strong claims of exiting the maiden ranks. She usually races handy so this track will suit her running style.

Jockey: Robbie FRADD - Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

This is a very competitive contest but PIVOTAL PURSUIT is lightly raced and could prove to be much better than his current rating. He has come well since his major setback that kept him out of racing for almost a year. The son of Pivotal won his maiden with a bit in hand over a mile in his penultimate outing and then made eye-catching late progress in his comeback run over 1450m on this track last time out. He was drawn very badly on that occasion but has a midfield draw to assist his cause today. He will strip fitter and is bred to love every bit of this extra distance. He takes on considerably stronger but has a handy galloping mass of just 52kgs and could prove equal to the task.

Race 5: SEMRA(4)
Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

SEMRA has shown promising form and she was impressive when winning her maiden over a mile at Clairwood by 6.50 lengths last time out. She didn't beat much but she was effortless in her victory and has lots of scope for improvement. She takes on a lot stronger today and though this course may not suit her running style, she can still defy the odds and follow up. The grey daughter of Jet Master has an eye catching turn of foot and is clearly one to watch during the season.

Jockey: Robbie FRADD - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

This is yet another competitive event but SHEPHERDS WARNING is coming along the right way and the son of Tiger Ridge has improved with each outing. He was cramped at a crucial stage but stayed on strongly for third over this trip at the Vaal, two weeks ago. The Woodruff inmate may have just needed that last run but will be cherry-ripe today and can make further improvement. He jumps from a handy draw and has the experience of having raced on this course.

Race 7: SABADELL(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Geoff WOODRUFF

SABADELL wasn't given the smartest of rides in his last outing and that run is best ignored. He showed promise as a three-year old and defied the odds when winning over seven furlongs on the standside course, despite a big mass and a wide draw, three runs back. The son of Var is yet to place on this track from two efforts, which is a slight concern, but he has a good draw today and should be very competitive.
