How to bet on Trifecta hollywoodbets

What is a Trifecta?

One of the most popular horse racing bets around, the purpose of the Trifecta is to select three horses in a single race to finish in the first three places in the exact order. There are four different types of Trifectas that you can take with Hollywoodbets. They are:

Straight line

In the straight-line Trifecta, you can only select one horse per finishing position – this remains true for all straight line bets. So if you take a straight line trifecta with the selections 2, 5 and 8. These selections must finish the race in the first three places in this exact order for your bet to be winning as the below table highlights.

Second

Third

2

5

8

If there is a dead heat for first place, there will be two dividends paid out. Should a race finish 2/3 – 5 – 8, the winning combinations will be:

First

Second

Third

2

5

8

AND

Third

8

The same rule will apply if there is a dead heat for second and third place.

Boxed Trifecta

The boxed trifecta offers you a bit more security than the straight line variant of the bet. Here, you can select three or more horses to run in the first three positions in ANY ORDER. So if you take a boxed trifecta with the selections 2, 4, 6 and 8, these selections must finish the race in the first three places in any order.

Banker Trifecta

Bankering a runner usually means that you require the horse to finish in first place. In a trifecta bet, it means that you rely on one horse to finish first, second or third for example.

If you take 1 as a banker for first by 2, 4, 6, 8 for second and third. It would mean that you are relying on number one to finish in first followed by any of the numbers above finishing second and third.

You can also banker a horse to finish in either second or third, this will mean that you would mean to pick horses to run in the other positions. For example, if you take horse number 1 as a banker for second, you would need to choose horses to finish first and third.

The more horses that you include will increase your permutation.

The below table illustrates a baker trifecta if you took banker 1 by  2, 4, 6 and 8.

Floating/Roving Banker Trifecta

In a trifecta, you have the option of one or two floating/roving bankers which must run in the top three positions in any order and the other selections must fill the positions that your banker does not.

For example, Roving/Floating number 1 by numbers 2, 4, 6, 8. This implies that horse number 1 must run in the first three with any of the selections finishing in the first three with it.

In addition to this, you can have more than one floating bankers. For example, you can “float” number 1 and 10 with horses 2, 4, 6 and 8. This means that you’d need numbers 1 and 10 to run anywhere in the top three with 2, 4, 6 or 8 filling one of the other positions.

The below tables highlight the aforementioned two bets.

Difference between Open Bet and Tote Bet

An Open Bet is a tote/TAB type bet taken with a bookmaker. The bookmaker – in this case, Hollywoodbets – lays the bet, and pays the dividend as declared by the tote on the winning combinations.

No fixed odds are agreed at the time the bet is placed. The winnings and therefore the payout is determined after the outcome of the event on which the open bet was struck becomes known, with reference to the dividends generated by the totalizator.

Tote betting works by a player betting into a cumulative pool that also includes other punters. The payout is then shared among all of the winning players – this is referred to as a dividend. Remember that the total amount that gets paid out is determined by the number of people who won the pot.
