Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

SONG OF VICTORY has shown much improved form since the blinkers have been removed. She has also enjoy- ed going over ground and she ran on well for a good 3rd over ten furlongs on this course in her penultimate outing. She confirmed that form with another solid 3rd, this time against male rivals, two weeks ago. The daughter of Victory Moon has plenty going for her today and she must be afforded the utmost respect.

Race 2: TEEPEE(4)
Jockey: Wayne AGRELLA - Trainer: Dorrie SHAM

TEEPEE and LIWA are the only two runners in this moderate contest to have a 100% record on this track and they could well fight things out. The slight preference is for Wayne Agrella's mount who has had three fair post maiden runs. The daughter of Ashaawes won her maiden well over a mile on this course in late October. She hasn't been beaten far since and she only lacked extra late over ten furlongs in stronger company, four weeks ago. She jumps from a much better draw today and has a bright chance of notching up her second career win.

Race 4: AL LUNAM(2)
Jockey: Robert KHATHI - Trainer: Corne SPIES

AL LUNAM was rested 11 weeks after his disappointing last run at Kenilworth. His form shows that the son of Captain Al is much better than that performance. He has done particularly well in PE and has the pace to handle this polytrack. His stable's horses are having a decent run throughout the country and he should go well today.

Race 5: IN A RUSH(4) - TOP BET
Jockey: Nicholas PATEL - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

IN A RUSH has been very disappointing recently but the switch to the polytrack could be exactly what he needs. Of course, he showed his love for the sand when he beat a high class field in the Emerald Cup over 1450m on the Vaal sand in late September. The son of Windrush is extremely well-weighted in this contest, thanks largely to the 4kgs apprentice claim and he could bounce right back to his best form.

Race 3: VELOCITY ONE(8) (Each Way)
Jockey: Nicholas PATEL - Trainer: Gavin SMITH

This is an intriguing contest and an upset could be on the cards. At first glance,VELOCITY ONE appears held by a few of today's contenders, but upon closer inspection it becomes apparent that the son of Solskjaer could be the 'dark horse' here. His last run from a poor draw on this polytrack last Friday must be completely ignored. He is better than that performance and in fact, his best recent effort came over 1900m on this track in late November. He was just over four lengths behind the runner-up BLUE HORIZON BAY last time but is now a whopping 7.5kgs better off with that rival, thanks largely to a 4kgs apprentice claim. The five-year old entire' shoulders a light mass of just 48kgs and jumps from a handy draw. His only two career wins came over 2400m so this trip should be right up his alley.
