Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: KEMAL KAVUR(5)
Jockey: Donavan MANSOUR - Trainer: Vaughan MARSHALL

KEMAL KAVUR is rated by his stable and the expensive purchase made an encouraging debut over six furlongs at the Vaal, recently. He was fancied in the betting market and showed pace before tiring to finish 2nd best at the line. The son of Warm White Night was one length in front of the 3rd placed finisher RICHIETHELIONHEART and should build on that performance. The Vaughan Marshall inmate should enjoy the rise in distance and he merits healthy respect.

Jockey: Anthony DELPECH - Trainer: Mike DE KOCK

CAPTAIN'S SONG has produced two promising sprint efforts to date and those credentials make her hard to beat in this contest. The expensive Mike de Kock purchase is bred to love this extra distance and she has tons of scope for improvement. She is well drawn on her debut around the turn.

Jockey: Piere STRYDOM - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

GREASEPAINT continues his promising form since being gelding and he was only caught late after showing blistering pace in yielding conditions over 1160m, last Saturday. Interestingly, his trainer has opted to remove the blinkers but the son of Kahal is extremely effective on this track and Strydom retains the ride. The Magner inmate is drawn in pole and should take a power of beating.

Jockey: Weichong MARWING - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

BOUCLETTE TOP is a smart type who is surprisingly still a three-time winner. The Giant's Causeway gelding has produced some smart performances at higher levels and races off a competitive mark. He ran on well for a good 3rd in a listed handicap over a mile on this track last time and will be much better suited to this extra furlong. The Alec Laird inmate has cracked a good draw and rather interes- tingly, he gets equipped with blinkers for the first time in his career. There is still more to come from the four-year old.

Race 6: PEPE(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Marco V/RENSBURG - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

The three-year old PEPE is an above-average stayer who is coming along the right way. He has lots to prove on his handicap debut today but showed an impressive turn of speed to shed his maiden tag easily over 2400m at the Vaal, four weeks ago. He receives 4.5kgs from his main dangers and could prove to be ahead of the handicapper. The son of Kabool has experience on this course and he could be worth following. His stable is in very good form.
