Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Pierre STRYDOM - Trainer: Gary ALEXANDER

DEFINING LOOKS has improved her formline significantly since trying this surface. She improved on her track debut in her penultimateouting and then produced her career best effort when she pushed male rivals hard before being caught late over this c & d, two weeks ago. This daughter of Trippi has two lengths to find on CROWD BEARER on meeting behind Coral Key over this c & d but she is lightly raced and still has more to offer than the battling latter who did manage a fair 3rd at this venue last Thursday.

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Roy MAGNER

VICTORY SILKS is effective on both surfaces but he may have found the trip too far for him in his last outing. He will certainly prefer today's six furlongs and has shown ability. The Kahal gelding has placed over this c & d and he is a big threat in an ordinary field. His pole barrier position is a major plus.

Race 4: JAY BOY(3)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

JAY BOY quickly fought back to form as he fought on well to finish runner-up over this trip on the grass, five weeks ago. That form was franked and this son of Jay Peg should be competitive in this line-up. He could adopt similar frontrunning tactics to get effect on his sand debut.

Race 6: MAJI MOTO(1)
Jockey: Gavin LERENA - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

MAJI MOTO fared well in back-to-back features on this surface recently and takes a drop in class now. He is at his level-best over this minimum trip but surprised many when only tiring very late in his most recent effort over six furlongs. The eight-year old gelding gets the services of Gavin Lerena and he should give another good account himself, despite his big mass.

Race 8: WENSLEYDALE(13) (Each Way)
Jockey: Hennie GREYLING - Trainer: Leon ERASMUS

WENSLEYDALE has shown encouraging signs in her last two runs and she could be the right one here. It must be noted that she ran on strongly for 2nd over this trip on the grass last Thursday and races off the same rating today. Of course, she races on the sand for the first time butb her conditioner's horses do go well on this surface and she can build on that recent resurgance in her formline.
