Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: STRUBEN(6)
Jockey: Greg CHEYNE - Trainer: Alan GREEFF

STRUBEN has shown lots of promise on the grass and is a huge contender, if handling this surface today. He was outrun late from a wide draw over seven furlongs last time but should enjoy this shorter trip and that experience around the bend will stand him in good stead. The son of Visionaire is drawn well at gate 2 and he rates as the horse to beat.

Jockey: Raymond DANIELSON - Trainer: Tara LAING

The speedy three-year old MOMENTOUS made the expected improvement in his second local start, over the minimum trip on the grass, recently. He only tired late and was just over one length adrift of his conqueror, back in the 4th position. The son of Black Minnaloushe will be cherry-ripe on his third run after the layoff and he should feature prominently once more. He should easily overcome his awkward draw on his polytrack debut.

Jockey: Gift FUNEKA - Trainer: Yvette BREMNER

FASHION SCOUT has been taking on much stronger in the Cape and he hasn't fared too badly in recent outings. He has shown good pace and this surface could suit the son of Toreador who jumps from pole position. The bay colt continues to drop in the ratings and he can cause an upset on his local debut.

Race 8: OYSTER NUT(2)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: George UREN

OYSTER NUT showed good improvement when she produced her career best effort over seven furlongs on the grass last time out. She attracted outside betting support and finished strongly for 2nd, despite a wide draw. The daughter of Dupont should build on that progress and she is well drawn on her polytrack debut today. Muzi Yeni gets the ride for the George Uren yard.

Race 4: DIAMOND DIVA(4) (Each Way)
Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Grant PADDOCK

There are plenty of speedy sorts in this weak graduation contest and an upset could be on the cards. DIAMOND DIVA is favourably weighted and she will enjoy the likely blistering pace, albeit she does prefer an extra furlong. She ran on well for a decent 4th from a wide draw over 1300m on this track last time but will be an entirely different proposition from a good draw today. She gets the services of Muzi Yeni. The riding engagements from the Bremner yard suggests that BLIZZARD BELLE is preferred.
