Magic Tips Best Bets

Jockey: Muzi YENI - Trainer: Tienie PRINSLOO

LADY LIBERTY has loads of speed and she produced an eye-catching local debut over this c & d, three weeks ago. She was 2nd best but was returning from a lengthy 31 week absence so will strip fitter and could be above-average. She was well clear of the third placed runner on that occasion and should be equal to the task of facing male rivals today.

Jockey: Jarryd PENNY - Trainer: Cliffie MILLER

CHANTECLER produced a powerful late surge to win a similar contest over six furlongs on his local debut, three weeks ago. He was handed a four pound penalty but should build on that run and is equally effective over this extra furlong. The son of Dupont is drawn in midfield and he should give a very good account of himself. SONG JET is another Highveld raider with fair Vaal sand form and he makes his local debut from a good draw. He is steadily dropping in the ratings and should build on his improved last run.

Race 7: JAGUAR(5)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Coerie LENSLEY

JAGUAR was given a great ride when he fended off the game subsequent winner All The Bids to record an impressive last victory over 1400m, three weeks ago. He meets a similar field now but does have to negotiate a wide barrier. The four-year old gelding won't have things his own way but he has lots of courage and gets another strong jockey up.

GRACEFILLY clearly prefers racing without blinkers and she is way better than her last start. She produced the run of her career when going close in a strong field over this c & d prior to that and is a major contender here. She should have no issues taking on male rivals and is expected to go well in this field.

Race 4: CLEAN CUT(7) (Each Way)
Jockey: S'manga KHUMALO - Trainer: Clinton BINDA

CLEAN CUT is suited to this track and he caught the eye in his last performance here. He had fared well on the Highveld prior to his poor last two efforts but has faced stronger. The son of Goldkeeper could enjoy this trip and he should make good improvement in this field. CAPE SISKIN has done really well since arriving in Kimberley. He is clearly enjoying his racing and ran on well for 3rd over seven furlongs last Monday, despite not striding out. It will be interesting to see whether he has recovered from the run but this shorter trip shouldn't be an issue and he is drawn in pole.
