Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 4: RASCALITY(1)
Jockey: Lyle HEWITSON - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

RASCALITY has issues but she has shown lots of promise and could be above-average. She finished runner up in her first two runs before being rested for 37 weeks. However, the daughter of Kahal produced two useful comeback runs and will now be cherry-ripe on her third run after the layoff. This trip should suit her perfectly and her wide draw is no concern on this longer run-in. The only slight worry is how she will fare with blinkers fitted for the first time.

Race 5: SUNDARI(1) - TOP BET
Jockey: Charles NDLOVU - Trainer: Michael AZZIE

SUNDARI has excelled since relocating to the Highveld and he was rewarded for consistency when he won a good contest over this trip on the sand, three weeks ago. He is equally effective on the grass and went close to winning his local debut, three runs back. The four-year old chestnut gelding shoulders a big mass but takes on lesser opposition today and can follow-up. He gets the services of a top workri- der.

Jockey: Thomas NCUME - Trainer: Spike LERENA

BESAME MUCHO is consistent and she produced a good last run over this c & d against much stronger opposition. The six-year old mare raced wide in yielding conditions that day but still stayed on for a creditable 4th, beaten 3.50 lengths at the line. That earned her a two pound penalty but she drops in class and should feature prominently in this field.

Race 8: FELIX M(12)
Jockey: Chamu MABAYA - Trainer: Alec LAIRD

FELIX M went off at long odds but caught the eye on his useful debut over seven furlongs on this track four weeks ago. The blinkered son of Mambo In Seattle was slow into stride and took a bump at a crucial stage but he still finished well for 4th, beaten just under four lengths behind an easy winner. He is unfortunately drawn wide once more but would have come on with that experience and will relish today's extra furlong. He should make natural improvement and must be respected.

Race 6: CATCH A THIEF(6) (Each Way)
Jockey: Beto MUNDLOVU - Trainer: George SCOTT

This is a low-key fillies and mares handicap and plenty of caution is advised. The formline to follow could be the Marmalady run over this trip on the inside course on 18/04. The top selection CATCH A THIEF made big improvement as she finished well for 4th, beaten just under three lengths in that event and she drops slightly in class now. She has a victory on this track to her credit and must be included.
