Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: RUSH IN(12)
Jockey: Khathi S - Trainer: Smith G D

RUSH IN has had just two career starts and he made smart improvement over this c & d, second time out. The Windrush colt raced up with the pace and challenged strongly before being outrun late into 2nd, that day. He had the consistent maiden MEMPHIS MAFIA a short head further back in that contest and has good scope for more progress. The pair meet on identical weight terms and the top selection gets the nod to confirm the form.

Jockey: Zechner K - Trainer: Sham D

This is an intriguing contest in which caution must be exercised. LADY MARSHALL benefitted from the long absence as she made huge improvement when trying the polytrack in her comeback run, two weeks ago. She was 2nd best behind an easy winner over six furlongs that day, but finished eye-catchingly and clearly has more to offer. She will certainly strip fitter and her pedigree suggests that she should relish the extra furlong. The daughter of Parade Leader should be competitive in this ordinary line-up.

Jockey: Fortune A - Trainer: Strydom J V A

GOGETTHESHERIFF is versatile and he proved his class when easily holding off challenges to win a good contest over 1900m on the polytrack, two weeks ago. He has been excellent on that surface but is no slouch on the grass, albeit he is yet to win on this track. The Go Deputy gelding has some issues jumping on terms but he still produced a strong finish when going down just over one length to the equally classy SIR DUKE whom he meets on level terms today. The 'Fortune factor' should come heavily into play and the chestnut could exact revenge, if jumping on terms. He seemed to overcome those issues in his last two starts.

Jockey: Cheyne G - Trainer: Greeff A C

BOBBY JAMES hasn't won for quite some time, which is concerning, but he remains consistent and is knocking hard at the door for that deserved fifth career victory. He had a cracking debut for his new yard when outrun late by SWIFT WONDER in yielding conditions over this c & d, four weeks ago but may have just needed the outing. The Fort Wood gelding is at his level-best over this minimum distance and he should strip fitter. He meets his conqueror on 3kgs better terms and is expected to turn things around.

Race 4: THE JET(3)
Jockey: Fayd'Herbe B - Trainer: Snaith J S

This is a very interesting novice contest with the betting market probably suggesting this is a one sided affair. However, there may be one chink in the likely odds-on favourite's armour and THE JET could exploit that. This inmate from the Justin Snaith yard is no star as his record of one win from 16 runs suggests but he need only produce those performances behind Mister Matchett and Vincente in the Cape to be a serious challenger. He has fair local form on the polytrack but will strip fitter on his PE turf debut today. He could certainly throw down a big challenge to the classy ORIENTAL TIGER.
