Jockey: Cheyne G - Trainer: Hodgson D R

This is a most intriguing novice contest that features some quality up-and-coming three-year olds. The weights favour a few of the older brigade but it still promises to be an exciting finish. WINTER TRADE is surprisingly only a one-time winner despite showing some high class form in much stronger company for some time now. The Western Winter gelding has a tidy c & d record and he finished well for 4th in his comeback run, nine days ago. He will be fitter today and could give his younger counterparts a torrid time.

Race 4: ICY FIRE(8) - TOP BET
Jockey: Cheyne G - Trainer: Ramsden J

ICY FIRE found outside betting support when she produced a highly promising debut over six furlongs in soft conditions, two weeks ago. The daughter of Western Winter was unfavourably drawn on this track that day, but she finished strongly for 2nd despite finding plenty of traffic problems at crucial stages. The well-bred bay filly should make natural improvement and she will love this extra furlong on her pedigree. She has cracked pole position on her first venture around the turn and should take some beating. There are a few form contenders who will make things tough though.

Race 6: CASADESUS(1)
Jockey: Fayd'Herbe B - Trainer: Ramsden J

There are some smart fillies on display in this handicap and another thrilling finish is expected. The Joey Ramsden charge, CASADESUS has her issues but she is highly talented and could be worth following during the summer. She completed a staggered hat-trick with an effortless comeback victory in heavy conditions over a mile recently and the imported daughter of High Chaprral will strip much fitter. Her pedigree suggests that she should relish the rise in distance and she holds strong claims despite a big mass after the resultant six pound penalty. The four-year old filly has cracked pole position.

Jockey: V.Niekerk G - Trainer: Sheehan R G

PRINCE LATERAL has shown promise in his four runs to date and there could be plenty more to come from the Lateral gelding. The Ronnie Sheehan inmate has often found a strong late burst and he did just that when close-up in his last two c & d efforts. He finished three parts of a length behind the runner-up ROCKET MASTER in his penultimate outing in yielding conditions and can finish closer, despite being 1kg worse off at the weights. Interestingly, he is the only entrant from his yard on today's card.

Jockey: Behr G - Trainer: Marcus A N

GEORGEOUS GABY has reached a competitive mark in her rating and she caught the eye in a much improved last c & d performance in yielding conditions. The bay mare did suffer a bump late on and that clearly cost her but she is better drawn today and can cause the upset.
