Magic Tips Best Bets

TOP BET
Race 1: PRECIOUS PANSY(1)
Jockey: Chase MAUJEAN – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

PRECIOUS PANSY caused a huge upset when she kept on well to capture a feature over this c & d on debut a fortnight ago. She had a few of today’s rivals comfortably behind her that day and the daughter of Pathfork would have come on appreciably from the experience. She is clearly way above-average and has huge claims of following up.

Race 5: CRACKPOT(4)
Jockey: Juan-Paul VAN DER MERVE – Trainer: Gavin SMITH

CRACKPOT expectedly bounced back to form with a smart comeback run in her former home province. She stayed on strongly for a close 2nd over further on the polytrack that day and will strip fitter this time around. The drop in distance is no issue for the bay mare who is effective on this track.

Race 6: MIRACLE BUREAU(3)
Jockey: Matthew THACKERAY – Trainer: Tara LAING

The Tara Laing yard holds a strong hand in this competitive handicap sprint and the recently relocated MIRACLE BUREAU drops heavily in class on his local debut. The Trippi gelding lost his way recently after showing much promise but this is his favourite distance and he holds serious claims. His jockey had a winner for the yard at this venue last Friday.

Race 7: DESERT CHIEF(2)
Jockey: Karl ZECHNER – Trainer: Sharon B KOTZEN

The juveniles take centre stage in the day’s topliner and the value could lie with the Sharon Kotzen-trained son of Main Aim, DESERT CHIEF. The bay colt has shown promise from day one and he produced a powerful late burst to beat the speedy FORT WINTER going away over this c & d in the maiden ranks despite being unfavourably drawn three weeks ago. The blinkers certainly did the trick that day and jockey Zechner’s mount is obviously above-average. The pair jump from a favourable barrier position now.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:

Race 8: CORKER(15)

Jockey: Eldin WEBBER – Trainer: Sharon B KOTZEN

The recently relocated CORKER continues to drop in the merit ratings and she could be a force on her local debut from a favourable barrier position. The former Cape resident showed promise when sprinting in the ‘Mother City’ and she certainly has the class to be very competitive in this field. She wasn’t far adrift of male rivals in her comeback run last time and the daughter of Pathfork has joined a solid local outfit.
