Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: TWEED VALLEY(11)
Jockey: Anton MARCUS - Trainer: Kumaran NAIDOO

The juveniles have a decent say in this opening event and TWEED VALLEY was quietly fancied when she produced a quality debut over the c & d. She finished strongly for 2nd in a 'lightning quick' affair that evening and the well-related daughter of Pathfork should have plenty more to offer. Of course she takes on stronger now but gets the services of Marcus and rates an obvious contender.

Race 2: HALLO MR(6)
Jockey: Warren KENNEDY - Trainer: Gavin VAN ZYL

HALLO MR boasts good recent form on this surface and this minimum trip suits him well. He was running on late when just out of the money recently and the 3rd placed finisher Bagger Vance boosted that form with a subsequent victory. The Muhtafal gelding should handle the rise in class and he holds definite claims from his good draw.

BARBARELLA NIGHTS was immediately rested after his disappointing last effort on the Highveld. He showed good speed when equipped with blinkers that day but the soft underfoot conditions seemed to find him out in the closing stages. The bay gelding produced some creditable displays prior to that and this surface could suit his running style. His yard is in great form and he has definite claims on his track debut.

Race 8: TRIP QUEENS(8)
Jockey: Keagan DE MELO - Trainer: Sean TARRY

TRIP QUEENS is fast reaching a competitive merit rating and she caught the eye with a decent last sprint on her track debut. The mile will suit the well-bred Tarry inmate much better tonight and she was docked a further two pounds in her rating. The daughter of Trippi should build on that last run.

Jockey: Eric S NGWANE - Trainer: Garth PULLER

RESPECT AT BAY enjoys the polytrack and she drops in class after an eye-catching last feature run. She hasn't been disgraced in two starts since developing the nasty tendency to jump slowly and should be a real threat in this line-up. The bay mare is her yard's only entrant on the night.
