Saturday 22 April

Spanish La Liga

Villarreal 13/20 | Draw 51/20 | Leganes 9/2
Villarreal have lacked consistency in recent weeks but return to their ground, where they have won nine of their 16 home games. The Yellow Submarines fell to a 2-1 defeat on Monday night at Alaves and will be determined to return to winning ways here.

Leganes’ poor run of form continued as they conceded to their third straight loss in the league. It needs to be said that Lega are also winless in six matches and with just three wins from 16 travels, it’s doubtful that will improve here. The home win is tipped.

German Bundesliga

Ingolstadt 12/10 | Draw 49/20 | Werder Bremen 21/10
Ingolstadt were disappointing last time out as they fell to a 3-0 defeat away to Wolfsburg. However, prior to that loss, the relegation-candidates had won three matches on the trot, including back-to-back wins at home.

Werder Bremen are one of the most in-form teams in the league. They are unbeaten in their last 10 matches and are looking better with each passing week. This will be my value bet of the week, with Bremen tipped to edge this one at a solid 21/10!

Nedbank Cup Quarter-Final

Chippa United 8/10 | Draw 23/10 | Jomo Cosmos 33/10
Chippa United are going through a bit of a win drought in the League. Nonetheless, they are unbeaten at home in their last eight matches in all competitions, including four wins and four draws. The Chilli Boys started the competition with a narrow 1-0 win over Witbank Spurs 1-0 before claiming a 2-0 victory over Polokwane in the round of 16.

Jomo Cosmos are without a win in their last four League games with two defeats and two stalemates. However, they were impressive in their last Nedbank Cup showing, beating Bidvest Wits on penalties after the sides played to a fair 1-1 draw. But I just can’t see them sending another PSL franchise packing, especially with their horrendous away form. Back Chippa to come out on top.

Sunday 23 April

FA Cup Semi-Final

Arsenal 29/10 | Draw 29/10 | Manchester City 8/10
I know, just as the rest of the footballing world does, that Arsenal have been woeful in recent weeks. The Gunners have failed to hit their stride this season but with underfire boss Arsene Wenger desperate to win over the fans, the FA Cup is his last hope for success. Arsenal are known to turn up the heat in this competition and I feel as though they might just do that here.

Manchester City haven’t been as good as most predicted them to be this season. Pep Guardiola hasn’t got the Citizens playing the kind of fluent football that he used to week in and week out at Barcelona and Bayern Munich. The Sky Blues have won back-to-back League games and will look to maintain that form against Wenger’s men. Nonetheless, it’s do or die for Arsenal, and with their backs against the wall, the Gunners are tipped to find a way into the final. Back the Arsenal on the win/draw Double Chance at 9/10.

English Premier League

Liverpool 5/10 | Draw 34/10 | Crystal Palace 5/1
Liverpool have been on fire in recent weeks and are now unbeaten in their last seven games with five victories. The Reds have been excellent on their ground this season with 11 wins from 16 matches, scoring 41 goals.

Crystal Palace are still not guaranteed another season in England’s top flight despite winning five of their last seven matches, including victories over Chelsea and Arsenal. We could be in for a cracking game here, with Liverpool tipped for the win and both Teams To Score at 13/10.

Italian Serie A

Sampdoria 17/20 | Draw 26/10 | Crotone 28/10
Sampdoria have been average at best on home soil this season. Next up for them is relegation-threatened Crotone, who have travelled poorly with just one win and 12 losses from 16 games, scoring 10 goals and conceding 29 times.

The reverse tie ended 1-1 but with home advantage, Sampdoria are tipped to bag all three points. The home win should be backed.

French Ligue 1

Lyon 16/10 | Draw 51/20 | Monaco 29/20
Monaco come into this one off the back of an impressive 6-3 on aggregate victory over Borussia Dortmund in their Champions League quarter-final, extending their winning run to five matches in all competitions. Lyon, on the other hand, have struggled for results of late, going down 4-1 to Lorient last time out.

The reverse tie went in favour of Lyon, who claimed a 3-1 victory but this time around there is more at stake, with Monaco gunning for the for the all-important title. The last two meetings have seen a combined 12 goals, so the Totals market is definitely a runner. Monaco, however, can’t afford to drop points at this stage of the season, especially with PSG breathing down their necks. The away win is on the cards.

Portuguese Primeira Liga

Pacos Ferreira 43/20 | Draw 21/10 | Braga 27/20
Pacos are placed 14th on the Portuguese Primeira Liga table and are without a win in their last seven league games. Their opponents, Braga, are unbeaten in their last seven matches with three wins and four draws.

This should be a tight contest but the away team have been far better in recent weeks. After their 1-1 home draw against title-chasing Porto last time out, Braga will be confident of securing maximum points here.

Scottish Cup Semi-Final

Celtic 9/20 | Draw 32/10 | Rangers 5/1
In what is undoubtedly the biggest fixture in Scottish football, Celtic and Rangers go toe-to-toe in a lunch-time kick-off on Sunday afternoon. Celtic have dominated the league this season as they remain unbeaten with 29 wins and just four draws from 33 games.

The league title and League Cup might have been won by Celtic but Rangers will give their all to ensure a treble is not on the cards. A fiery affair is expected with Both Teams tipped to find the back of the net at 8/10.

Monday 24 April

English Championship

Newcastle 9/20 | Draw 32/10 | Preston 52/10
After Brighton & Albion became the first team to be promoted to the English Premier League, Newcastle will be determined to stake their claim back in the top-flight after just one season in the Championship. The Magpies have won their last two home games against Preston (6-0 and 3-0) and look well worth a punt to get the job done here.

Preston have been terrible in recent weeks with three losses on the spin and have no chance of making the play-off places this season. Back Newcastle on the (-1) Handicap at 12/10.
