The news follows their largest UEFA Champions League group stage defeat in 21 years and pundits have criticized his team selection in last nights matchday 2 fixture.

The news is set to break in a Press Conference tonight.

The Italian tactician took over the reigns from Pep Guardiola at the start of last season and he has won two DFB-Supercups (preseason trophy contested by Bundesliga and DFB-Pokal champions) and one Bundesliga title.

Being knocked out of last season's DFB-Pokal by bitter rivals, Borussia Dortmund cast doubt over his future at the Allianz Arena. He followed that up by crashing out of the coveted UEFA Champions League in the last eight, going down 6-3 to eventual champions, Real Madrid. The above-mentioned PSG defeat was the final nail in his coffin.

Ancelotti has previously mentored big teams like AC Milan, Chelsea, PSG and Real Madrid.

Former Borussia Dortmund manager, Thomas Tuchel is linked to the job, with Willy Sagnol likely to be the interim Coach.
