Glasgow Warriors 7/10 | Draw 20/1 | Leinster 23/20

The Warriors of Glasgow suffered a first loss of the season last weekend at Exeter, and you can bet your bottom dollar that Dave Rennie will expect a return to form from his charges when Leinster come knocking on Saturday. The Irishmen themselves come off the back of a very impressive 24-17 bonus-point win over Montpellier, and will want another respectable result as they negotiate this season’s “Pool of Death”.

Having won all six of their Pro14 matches heading into last week, Glasgow’s nine-point loss at the hands of Exeter would have been all the more painful for the Scots. Failing to secure a bonus-point, especially considering the quality of opposition in their Pool, may prove costly for a side that has some high expectations for this European season. Exeter are a very pragmatic rugby team, and Glasgow’s inability to repel their close-quarter forward drives directly led to them conceding three-tries – something they simply have to rectify ahead of this weekend’s encounter.

The Warriors will be wary of giving the Leinstermen too much time and space with which to create opportunities, for they surely showed in their win over Montpellier what a threat they can be with ball in hand. With Johnny Sexton set to make a return to the playing field this weekend, Glasgow’s loose-trio will need to shut him out of the game if they are to set up a platform for victory. They will be buoyed by their home support, and it will be interesting to see how master tactician Rennie looks to nullify the Leinster attacking threats.

Leinster are absolutely littered with quality. Few gave them a chance at seeing off Montpellier several days ago – what with the staggering amount of injuries to some of their first-choice players - and yet their expert decision-making and execution put pay to any doubts about this team. Robbie Henshaw marked his return to form with an exceptional outing, and he is certainly one of the players that the three-time champions will look to ahead of another gruelling European campaign.

The expected return of Sexton and Sean O’Brien will add even more class to Leinster ahead of their trip to Scotland, and Sexton, in particular, is certain to have a big say on Saturday. The Irishmen will again look towards another tactical masterclass trough which to subdue their opponents, and Sexton is just the right man for the job.

Verdict: Leinster 23/20
With the form several of Leinster’s main men are in at the moment, it’s hard to see them losing out on Saturday. That said, they will do well to claim a second consecutive bonus-point against one of Europe’s up and coming sides.
