The stakes were high as the Sharks hosted the Blue Bulls for a spot in this year's 2017 Currie Cup final.

The Sharks got off to a flyer as a brilliant skip pass from Curwin Bosch found Lukhanyo Am who strolled over the line for the Sharks first score inside 3 minutes.

It took 3 minutes for the Sharks to get their second as a good set move saw Schreuder pass to Marius Louw who passed inside Kobus van Wyk - while Dan du Preez was used as a dummy runner - van Wyk scored easily as he found a massive hole in the Bulls defence. 14 - 0 after 7 minutes played.

The Bulls hit back in the 10th minute when prop Pierre Schoeman crashed over to score to the left of the uprights.

The Bulls added three more points as Sbu Nkosi was judged for offside, allowing Marnitz Boshoff to score. 14 - 10 with 19 minutes played. The Bulls ill-discipline cost them when Tim Agaba was given a yellow for not tracking back ten metres and tackling the player during a Sharks free kick.

The penalty resulted in a scrum to the Bulls inside the Sharks five-metre line and the host's contested it well, forcing the scrum to wheel, the Bulls quickly passed it, but a wayward pass was dropped by the Bulls and Louis Schreuder scored. Bosch converts - 21 - 13, Sharks.

38 minutes in and Ivan van Zyl attempted a kick from the base and captain Ruan Botha charged down and caught the ball to run 50 m to score. 28 - 13 it ended at half time.

The second half got underway to the Bulls favour after the Bulls ripped the ball from the Sharks in the hosts 22, Ivan van Zyl latched on to it and went to the blindside to score. 28 - 20 to the Sharks.

Bosch scored a penalty to strecth the host's lead to 31 - 20. The Bulls scored another in the 59th through Burger Odendaal. 31 - 27.

Bosch scored a drop goal taking the Sharks 7 points clear. The host's scrum was relentless as they turned over a Bulls scrum resulting in another penalty which Bosch scored. 37 - 27.

The Sharks held on to their lead to claim a 37 - 27 victory over the Blue Bulls and will host the Currie Cup final in Durban.

Verdict: Sharks 9/10 (-8.5)
Sharks at home and their defensive record is what I will base this bet on. The Bulls stand a good chance but their lack of discipline could be their downfall. I see the encounter either really firing and we see a try fiesta which might favour the Bulls or a boring kicking game which will play into the Sharks hands.
