West Brom have been on the lookout for a new man in the dug-out for more than a week after sacking Tony Pulis following a 10-game winless run in the Premier League.

Pardew admitted over the weekend that he had held talks with the Baggies over the vacancy and it appears now as if the 56-year-old will take charge at the Hawthorns.

Reports suggest that Pardew will pen a two-and-a-half year deal at the club.

Pardew is a former team-mate of West Brom technical director Nick Hammond and ironically could be in charge for the visit of ex-club Palace on Saturday.

Caretaker boss Gary Megson has presided over two draws in his two games at the helm after West Brom threw away a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with Newcastle on Tuesday.

But when asked about the imminent appointment of Pardew afterwards, he insisted he was in the dark.

Megson said: "The chairman [John Williams] has come down as he always does and said he wants to have a natter at 10am tomorrow, so I will tell you the truth about what he said and that is it and as far as I know.”
