Aviva Premiership: Exeter Chiefs v Harlequins Preview

Rugby players pack down for scrum

Defending Aviva Premiership Champions Exeter host a strong Harlequins outfit in Sunday's headline Premiership clash.

The Exeter Chiefs will be looking to close the gap between themselves and the log-leading Saracens when they take on Harlequins on Sunday the 19th of November. The hosts are in solid form this season but will need to be at their best if they are to beat a much-improved Harlequins outfit.

Exeter Chiefs v Harlequins Rugby | Sunday 19 November | Sandy Park | 17:00

To Win (80 Mins)
Exeter 1/8 | Draw 30/1 | Harlequins 52/10

The second-placed Chiefs come into this one as massive favourites with the bookies, and for the right reason. The reigning champions started this campaign just as they closed last season's, in impeccable form. Rob Baxter's men have won five of their opening seven fixtures and secured six bonus points from those seven games.

While this weekend's hosts are in great touch, they still trail the log leaders, Saracens, by two points. This weekend offers an ideal opportunity for them to overturn that deficit as Saracens will be without a host of international stars.

While 'Quins haven't been as scintillating as Exeter when it comes to attack, they have managed to produce some good rugby this term which has seen them maintain a position just outside the semi-final berths. This weekend's away team currently occupy fifth place on the log as a result of them registering four wins from their first seven matches.

Some of those victories were mightily impressive, with the most eye-catching, their 21-24 away victory over Wasps. The visitors also head into this one off the back of two successive wins with the first a 42-26 home victory over the Sale Sharks and the latest a 41-35 win over the Worcester Warriors.

Verdict: Exeter 1/8
While Harlequins are in decent touch, I doubt they'll have enough about them to see off a Chiefs side that hasn't been that heavily affected by international call-ups, The home win is an absolute banker and should be added to all multiples.
