Week 14 Preview

Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has expressed his interest in signing the world's most expensive player, Neymar, and his PSG team mate, Kylian Mbappe.

The pair were welcomed to Paris with open arms as Mbappe joined on loan until June 30, 2018, from Monaco with an option to purchase at the end of the contract. Neymar joined for a controversial record fee of  €222 million, the world's most expensive footballer is set to stay in Paris until 2022.

But it seems that Neymar and Real Madrid have other plans as the PSG no 10 wants to move to the Bernabeu in an attempt to compete for the Ballon d'Or. The Brazilian is reported to have told PSG chief,  Nasser Al – Khelaifi, that if he doesn’t win the UEFA Champions league or the Ballon d'Or in two seasons he will leave the Paris club.

As much is understandable, as players that win their club' domestic league and UEFA Champions League titles are only ever considered for the prestigious award..

Mbappé is 18, Let him grow and see how far he will go. We have the best players. Recruit Neymar while waiting for Mbappé to grow? This is not a bad idea. " Perez told El Partidazo de COPE

Neymar Senior has been in talks with Real Madrid in an attempt to get his son back to Spain as a direct move from Barcelona to Real Madrid would have been impossible, and a short stint in Paris was something it seems his son needed in order to return to Spain as a complete player.

The French Ligue 1 is not the most competitive division and lacks the competition of the Spanish, English, and Italian leagues. The Parisians, however, are hoping for a maiden UEFA Champions League title this season.

That might be a tough ask as the bar in the competition is constantly being raised by the top teams. While they can win it this season, I don’t see them going on to lift the trophy... especially having drawn Real Madrid in the Ro16.
