To Win
Cape Town City 7/2
Draw 23/10
Mamelodi Sundowns 8/10

Cape Town City
The Citizens played their first match since the return of competitive football after lockdown this past weekend and managed to record their first away win of the season. Kermit Erasmus was on target as Jan Olde Riekerink’s men overcame Chippa United 1-0. The rustiness was clearly evident in the players as the likes of Mduduzi Mdantsane started cramping in the second half.

Riekerink highlighted the importance of managing the workload as he had to substitute the likes of captain Thamsanqa Mkhize and Taariq Fielies to save them for the upcoming match. Currently placed ninth, City are two points below the top eight and will fight tooth and nail to finish in the top half of the table to participate in next season’s MTN8.

Mamelodi Sundowns
The Brazilians will be the visiting team in a venue which is usually their own backyard due to post-lockdown regulations.  Pitso Mosimane’s boys have lost ground on table-topping Kaizer Chiefs after drawing the last two games. However, they will still feel it’s somehow still in their hands as winning their game in hand and the match against Chiefs would see them go level on points with the table toppers.

Sundowns welcomed Gaston Sirino back after a two-match suspension and truth be told, his absence was felt as the team battled to create enough goalscoring opportunities without him. He provided an assist for Downs’ equaliser against Highlands Park upon his return and he will be looking to regain his form before it’s too late. This gives coach Mosimane a healthy headache as Sphelele Mkhulise won the man of the match award the last time out.

Verdict: Sundowns 8/10
I think the “visitors” have got the advantage as the match is held in what is normally their home ground. They have already played three matches since the return of football white City have also played one. The fitter team should win this one.
