Race 7: ROCK DEEJAY(9)

Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: SCHIPPERS(1)
Jockey: G Lerena - Trainer: E Verdonese

The speedy filly SCHIPPERS has finished runner-up in all three of her efforts to date and she can go one better today. She was outrun late by a potentially high quality colt over this c & d in soft going last time out and she had the odds-on favourite Square The Circle (runs in next event) nearly two lengths adrift. She has further scope for improvement.

Race 7: MUJALLAD(11)

Jockey: R Munger - Trainer: M De Kock

The day's topliner is an extremely competitive five furlong handicap sprint where THE THINKER formline is well-represented. Trainer Van Vuuren's charge produced a strong finish to beat the high class Naafer in a stronger feature over further last month. He was handed a hefty seven pound penalty but is even better over this minimum distance and can follow-up. That said, he will get stiff competition from the De Kock pairing of MUJALLAD and ALFOLK with a preference for the former. The grey colt is arguably best over sprint distances and he fought hard when going down narrowly behind a top sort just over two months ago. He finished exactly half a length adrift of the former that day but is now 4kgs to the good and he gets the verdict.

Jockey: A Delpech - Trainer: J Soma

ROYAL HONOUR has been slightly disappointing since returning to these shores but the chestnut gelding moved up menacingly before tiring late behind FORTISSIMA in his penultimate start over two miles. He will prefer this drop in distance and can get much closer to that rival. SAMURAI BLADE is an interesting entrant as he has never really been earmarked as a stayer despite some useful form up to ten furlongs.

Race 10: ALI BON DUBAI(1)
Jockey: G Lerena  - Trainer: G Woodruff

The top weight ALI BON DUBAI stays really well and there was much merit in his workmanlike recent ten furlong victory at a slightly lesser level. The Lateral gelding was raised four pounds for his exertions but he will enjoy this extra ground and he clearly loves racing on this galloping circuit. Trainer Woodrufff's charge is still ahead of the handicapper.

Race 3: ROMANO(5)
Jockey: R Danielson   - Trainer: D Sham

ROMANO has been well-tried but he caught the eye in just his second local start recently. The former PE resident was badly drawn over this c & d in yielding conditions that day but he ran on smartly to finish just out of the money. That formline was lifted when the 6th placed finisher Party Beat thrash- ed his maiden rivals subsequently. The bay gelding has a much kinder draw on his peak showing here.
