Pro 14: Leinster v Ulster Preview

Rugby fans are in for yet another tantalising Irish derby this coming weekend with Leinster and Ulster set to lock horns on Saturday the 6th of January 2018.

Leinster will be looking to keep the pressure on the Conference B leading Scarlets when they take on domestic foes, Ulster. The visitors come into this one off the back of a brilliant come-from-behind victory over Munster and will be full of confidence when they take to the RDS this Saturday.

Leinster Rugby v Ulster Rugby | Saturday 6 January | RDS Arena | 19:35

To Win (80 Mins)
Leinster 1/10 | Draw 30/1 | Ulster 11/2

Leinster Rugby
Leinster were certainly not all-conquering during the festive season but they did manage to record some vital victories beating both Munster and Connacht. The two results have seen them move to within striking distance of the Conference B leading Scarlets - they only sit two points off their Welsh rivals.

The Irish Province have a healthy home record this term and are yet to lose a game on their own patch. They also come into this one in solid form winning their last four fixtures, with their last defeat coming away to Glasgow at the start of November.

Ulster Rugby
Ulster recorded one of their most famous wins in the history of the Province as they overturned a 17-point lead with just 12 minutes remaining against Munster. While they were greatly aided by the red card which was received by Munster centre Sam Arnold, the Ulstermen must still be praised for the manner in which they refused to give up last Monday.

Monday's bonus-point victory has seen Ulster close the gap on Conference B's second-placed side, Leinster, to just six points. As such, a bonus point win here could see Ulster move to within just one point of Leinster on the Conference B standings. Needless to say, there's a hell of lot on the line at the RDS this Saturday.

Verdict: Leinster 1/10
As much as I'd love to see Ulster win this one and truly throw the cat amongst the pigeons in Conference B, I just can't see them getting one over a well-drilled Leinster at home.
