Pro 14: Munster v Glasgow Warriors Preview

European heavyweights, Munster and Glasgow, will square off on Friday the 23rd of February in the pick of this weekend's Pro14 action.

It's quite sad that this fixture will be played during Round 3 of the Six Nations as it robs spectators of the chance to see both sides go at it hammer and tongs while at full strength. Nevertheless, this should be a cracking fixture with both sides sure to give it a go with ball-in-hand.

Munster Rugby v Glasgow Warriors
Friday 23 January

Irish Independent Park

To Win (80 Mins)
Munster 4/10
Draw 18/1
Glasgow 21/10

Munster Rugby
The Irish Province have a chance to close the gap between themselves and the Conference A leading Glasgow Warriors to 11 points with a bonus point win here. If they were to close the gap to 11 points, then Munster would have an outside chance of topping the Pro14 Conference A standings.

Munster actually blew a chance at keeping the gap between themselves and Glasgow down as they lost to the Scarlets last week. The 25-18 defeat was Munster's second Pro14 defeat of the year with their first coming at the hands of provincial rivals Ulster on New Year's Day. Their only two wins in 2018 have come when they beat Connacht and Zebre by scoreline in excess of 25 points.

Glasgow Warriors
The Scottish province has performed admirably this term and currently sit 16 points clear at the top of the Conference A standings. They are yet to lose a Pro14 game this year with their worst result being a 15-15 draw with the Dragons. They head into this one off the back of a solid 37-23 victory over a full-strength Cheetahs outfit.

What has impressed me the most about Glasgow performance this year has been their ability to deliver despite them being devoid of their international contingent who are away on Six Nations duty. I mean, you'd expect a side to struggle without talismanic forces like Finn Russel but Glasgow have had no such problems.

Verdict: Munster 4/10
This game should be an absolute cracker. It's a tough one to tip and I'll be having a very small strike on the Munster win mainly due to their solid home record this season.
