Stockdale Awarded Player of the Six Nations

Players attempt to score a try

Ireland winger Jacob Stockdale has capped a memorable Six Nations campaign by being crowned Player of the Championship.

Stockdale scored a Six Nations record seven tries in his team's Grand Slam and beats Conor Murray (second) and Jonathan Sexton (third) to this year's gong. Fourth place was Keith Earls with Italy full-back Matteo Minozzi next in line with France hooker Guilhem Guirado sixth.

The 21-year-old finisher was a clear winner in the public vote, securing 32% of rugby fans' votes. His Ireland team-mate Murray had 18.2%.

"It's been a truly memorable few weeks, making my first NatWest 6 Nations appearance, winning the Championship then going on to complete the Grand Slam against England," said Stockdale.
"Breaking the try-scoring record was the cherry on top! It's an absolute honour to win the NatWest Player of the Championship, especially when you look at the amazing calibre of those shortlisted. Thank you to everyone who voted and for all the fans who gave us so much support throughout the Championship."
