TOP BET
Race 2: LESLIES PATHTOFAME(2)
Jockey: G Lerena  - Trainer: G Van Zyl

The chestnut gelding LESLIES PATHTOFAME showed speed before tiring late in both his comeback sprints and he has decent scope for improvement. He had two fair prior efforts over further in useful company and this track should suit him perfectly. The Pathfork gelding is drawn best of all with top jockey Gavin Lerena in the saddle.

Race 3: OPERA(3)
Jockey: D Schwarz   - Trainer: R Magner

OPERA has found some of her best form recently and she meets the hat-trick seeking CARMALITA on 2.5kgs better terms for just under a half a length c & d defeat suffered in her penultimate run when she returned from a short absence.

OPERA(3)

Race 5: THE TIN MAN(1)
Jockey: G Lerena  - Trainer: L Erasmus

The three-year old THE TIN MAN had promising form before his disappointing but excusable last feature showing. He should be highly competitive in this company and he went close in his latest effort on this track.

Race 8: DEFY GRAVITY(8)
Jockey: M Yeni  - Trainer: R Magner

The three-year old DEFY GRAVITY benefitted heavily from blinkers as he produced an eye-catching last performance behind subsequent winner My Favourite Brown earlier this month. He was only a head behind the runner-up YER-MAAN that day after finding much traffic problems but ran on strongly and can turn the form around over the extra furlong. The pair meet on similar weight terms so the veteran latter has definite claims from the best draw.

VALUE BET (EACH WAY) FOR TODAY:
Race 6: GOLD SHADES(9)
Jockey: D Lerena   - Trainer - F De Beer

The likely strong gallop should suit GOLD SHADES who can again record an upset at this level. The bay mare's wide draw isn't a concern as she generally finishes her races well and she did just that when narrowly winning her last start. Her conditioner has negated the penalty by engaging a 4kgs claiming apprentice.
