Super Rugby 2018: Brumbies v Reds Preview

Super Rugby 2018: Crusaders v Bulls Preview

The Brumbies and Reds will lock horns on Saturday the 7th of April in the day's only all-Australian affair.

There's a barnstormer in-store for rugby fans this Saturday with the hit-and-miss Brumbies squaring off against the ugly yet consistent Reds. The hosts head into this one seven-points off the foot of the Australian Conference while the visitors currently lead the aforementioned conference.

Brumbies v Reds
Saturday 7 April
GIO Stadium

To Win (80 Mins)
Brumbies 11/20
Draw 22/1
Reds 15/10

Brumbies (-3.5) 9/10
Reds (+3.5) 9/10

The 2018 Super Rugby season is fast becoming something of a farce for the Brumbies who have only managed to win two of their opening five games. They are yet to beat local opposition with their two victories coming against the Sharks (24-17) and the Sunwolves. 25-32.

The Brumbies have already taken on the Reds this term. The game saw the Queenslanders run out 18-10 victors at the Suncorp Stadium.

While it's rather gloomy over Canberra at the moment, there is some positive news for the Brumbies in the form of David Pocock. The Wallaby flanker was magnificent during last week's defeat to the Waratahs, racking up a number of turnovers while providing a strong ball-carrying option. The Brumbies will need him to be at his best yet again if they are to trouble the Reds.

Unlike their opponents, the Reds have enjoyed a solid start to the campaign and currently sit at the third in the Australian Conference. They have registered three wins from their five fixtures with their two defeats coming at the hands of the Stormers (25-19) and Rebels (45-19).

The Reds enjoyed a bye last weekend, which should see them head into this one rather rejuvenated. The break has also allowed Scott Higginbottom and Eto Nabuli to recover from injury. These two heavy-hitters should give a bit more bite to the Reds both on defence and attack.

Verdict: Reds (+3.5) 9/10
I think the Reds could well take this one. The Brumbies looked extremely lacklustre against the Waratahs last weekend and I can't see them upping their game here,
