Super Rugby 2018: Chiefs v Blues Preview

Super Rugby 2018: Crusaders v Bulls Preview

The Chiefs and Blues will lock horns in an all New Zealand affair on Saturday the 7th of April.

Saturday's second fixture is an all-Kiwi affair with the Chiefs playing host to the Blues. The home side head into this one fresh off the back of a five-point victory over the Highlanders while the visitors make the trip having gone down 40-63 to the Sharks on home soil.

Chiefs v Blues
Saturday 7 April
FMG Stadium Waikato

To Win (80 Mins)
Chiefs 3/10
Draw 25/1
Blues 5/2

Chiefs (-9.5) 9/10
Blues (+9.5) 9/10

The men from Waikato have only lost one of their five games this term and head into this one in third place on the New Zealand Conference standings, just two points behind the second-placed Crusaders and first-placed Hurricanes.

The Chiefs have been in red-hot form of the past fortnight racking up a 61-10 victory over the Sunwolves and following that up with a 27-22 over the Highlanders. They have fared well against New Zealand opposition this season and beat the Blues 21-27 back in Round 2.

It seems to be yet another almost year for the Blues who just cannot string a full 80-minute performance together. The men from Auckland currently languish at the foot of the New Zealand Conference and have only won one of their five fixtures, with the victory coming against the Lions in Johannesburg.

Despite their woes, the Blues may actually offer punters decent value on the plus this weekend. They have managed to keep things tight against the Chiefs in recent years losing their last game against their local rivals by six points and the drawing the fixture prior to that.

Verdict: Blues (+9.5) 9/10
I just think this line is a little too high. The Blues have managed to stay within this weekend's prescribed handicap in three of their last four encounters with the Chiefs. I can see them doing that again this coming weekend.
