Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 2: HIT THE GREEN(1)
Jockey: M Yeni  - Trainer: M De Kock

HIT THE GREEN was outclassed over further in the Nursery last time but the bay colt had promising prior form over this trip and he should bounce back in this lesser company. That recent formline was given a boost when the runner-up Cirillo easily won his maiden recently.

Race 3: VIVIR(4)
Jockey: S Brown  - Trainer: O Ferraris

This is a tricky five furlong contest where most of the form rivals are drawn alongside each other and they are really quick types who could easily cut each other's throats. That may pave the way for VIVIR who drops heavily in class on her return to the Highveld. Of course this chesntut filly had a credita- ble recent display in a Grade 1 in KZN and she beat subsequent easy winner Railtrip over this c & d on debut prior to that. She is her jockey and trainer's only entrant on the day and she should enjoy the likely blistering tempo.

Race 6: FLY NORTH(6)
Jockey: M Thackeray   - Trainer: B Botes

The filly FLY NORTH got going late in mixed company in her improved recent showing over five furlongs and she should build on that progress here. She enjoyed both of her career triumphs over this c & d and is fast reaching a competitive merit rating.

Jockey: M Khan   - Trainer: E Verdonese

STAR OF JOBURG expectedly failed to handle the mile at a high level behind subsequent Grade 3 winner Yakeen despite a false pace recently but the promising three-year old will be a major contender over today's distance. He finished smartly to beat similar rivals over this trip in his penultimate start and the runner-up Shogun boosted that formline when winning subsequently.

Race 5: HUYSSTEEN(5)
Jockey: K Zechner   - Trainer - M N Houdalakis

HUYSSTEEN is unbeaten from two efforts on this track & the gutsy imported gelding fought hard to keep that record intact recently. The slight drop in distance is a worry for the improving bay but he seems to have escaped with just the minimum two pound penalty and should be highly competitive once again.
