German Bundesliga: Week 22 Preview

Soccer player acrobatically volleys the ball

Gameweek 22 of the 2019/20 German Bundesliga kicks off on Friday 14 February 2019. Check out our full betting preview below.

It was a bit of a bleak week for yours truly, but I did find two mouth-watering value bets with the Bayer Leverkusen vs Dortmund matchup producing over 1.5 goals in both halves at 23/10 and Bayern Munich and Leipzig’s clash ending goalless with under 2.5 goals coming through at 24/10!

We’ve got another exciting round ahead of us and this time, I’ll be looking to clean up – not just on the value bets. Let’s get to it.

Friday 14 February

Borussia Dortmund 4/10
Draw 17/4
Eintracht Frankfurt 11/2

Borussia Dortmund’s run of three consecutive wins came to an end last time out in a seven-goal thriller against Bayer Leverkusen with BVB going down 4-3. Eintracht Frankfurt are unbeaten in their last four matches and are off the back of a 5-0 victory over Augsburg. A cracker contest is expected here with a goalfest on the cards. Get on Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 9/20.

Saturday 15 February

Leipzig 3/10
Draw 47/10
Werder Bremen 17/2

Leipzig are without a win in their last three matches, but will be fairly happy with the point earned at Bayern Munich last weekend. Werder Bremen are placed second from bottom on the standings and have lost their last three matches on the spin. The Red Bulls have been strong on home soil and will be desperate to get back to winning ways. Back Leipzig on the (-1) Handicap at 13/20.

Hoffenheim 15/10
Draw 49/20
Wolfsburg 17/10

Hoffenheim huffed and puffed but were sent packing empty-handed with a 1-0 defeat at Freiburg last time out. Wolfsburg have managed just one win from their last six matches and were disappointing last weekend, playing to a dour 1-1 draw at home against relegation-battlers Dusseldorf. Five of the last six meetings between these sides have seen both teams find the back of the net. With that being said, the obvious way to go would be Both Teams to Score – Yes – at 11/20.

Augsburg 21/20
Draw 26/10
Freiburg 24/10

Augsburg have been a train wreck in recent weeks with four losses from their last five matches, including a 5-0 thumping at Eintracht Frankfurt. Freiburg are coming off an impressive and hard-fought 1-0 home win against Hoffenheim. A tight affair is on the cards with a low-scoring matchup looking likely. Back Freiburg to come away with a narrow victory.

Paderborn 37/20
Draw 51/20
Hertha Berlin 27/20

Basement-dwellers Paderborn have registered just four wins from 21 games but showed some fight last time out as they earned a 1-1 draw at Schalke. Hertha Berlin were dismal as they were smashed 3-1 at home against Mainz. The hosts got more to play for and after last weekend’s performance, I feel they might want this win more. Take Paderborn to get the win.

Union Berlin 29/10
Draw 11/4
Bayer Leverkusen 17/20

Union Berlin pulled off an impressive 2-0 win away to Werder Bremen last time out and will be looking to build on that. Bayer Leverkusen, however, have been in superb form with four wins from their last five games. The newcomers will need to put in a solid effort defensively to claim a point, let alone three, and I’m backing them to do just that. The Under 2.5 Goals market – Yes – is tipped at 12/10.

Dusseldorf 3/1
Draw 28/10
Borussia Monchengladbach 8/10

Dusseldorf are winless in their last four matches but are coming off back-to-back hard-earned 1-1 draws against Eintracht Frankfurt and Wolfsburg. Monchengladbach have been inconsistent in recent weeks and have slowly loosened their grip on the title. The relegation-contenders won this fixture 3-1 last season and offer top value for the win here. Take Dusseldorf on the Win/Draw Double Chance at 9/10.

Sunday 16 February

Cologne 10/1
Draw 6/1
Bayern Munich 2/9

Cologne have been in top form with four wins from their last five matches but face a tough test in the form of Bayern Munich. The defending champions were held to a goalless draw at the weekend against Leipzig and will be hungry to get back to winning ways. This has all the makings of a humdinger with both sides in top form. Get on the Both Teams to Score – Yes – market at 13/20.

Mainz 19/10
Draw 24/10
Schalke 14/10

Mainz ended a four-match losing streak with an epic and well-deserved 3-1 victory away to Hertha Berlin. Schalke are without a win in their last three matches, scoring just once and conceding six goals. The reverse tie ended 2-1 and I’m leaning towards another clash with goals. The Totals – Over 2.5 Goals – market is there for the taking at 7/10.

TREBLE TIPPED @ 11/1
Leipzig (-1) Handicap 13/20
Freiburg Win 24/10
Union Berlin vs Leverkusen Under 2.5 Goals 12/10
