Neil Morrice: UK Racing Tips - Monday 1 April 2019

Jockeys race horses

Neil Morrice brings us his bets from around the UK on Monday 1 April. Tips this Monday come your way from Chelmsford, Ludlow and Newcastle.

Chelmsford City Best Bets

Race 6: I'M AVAILABLE (3)
Trainer: Andrew Balding\
Jockey Oisin Murphy

The authority with which I'M AVAILABLE when making every yard to score in convincing fashion over this trip at Kempton stamps her as a filly to follow and with her stable amongst the winners she should be very hard to stop, especially as it looks as if she could assume an uncontested lead.

Race 8: BAYSTON HILL (2)
Trainer: Mark Usher
Jockey: Fergus Sweeney

Usher tries first time cheekpieces on BAYSTON HILL who has improved from race to race in three starts this year. He made a good fist if defying his 14-1 odds at Wolverhampton last time, a run the trainer believes has brought him nicely to the boil.

Ludlow Best Bets

Race 4: VALSEUR DE GRANVAL (4)
Trainer: Tom George
Jockey: Paddy Brennan

Timoteo is unbeaten over fences and will be all the rage for his as for both those successes he hasn't come off the bridle. However, the handicapper has had his say and I fancy course and distance winner VALSEUR DE GRANVAL to trump him. The latter raised his game to almost upset Ballywood, a horse with a similar profile to Timoteo, at this track last month and he receives a massive 17lb.

Race 7: DARLING DU LARGE (3)
Trainer: Tom George
Jockey: Paddy Brennan

Having fallen on both starts including here last time Dieu Benisse is difficult to assess and I prefer the claims of DARLING DU LARGE who ran her best race to date when second to the heavily supported Paper Promise at Newcastle. As long as she is happy on this much better ground, the six-year-old can put the icing on the cake of a good day for her trainer.

Newcastle Best Bets

Race 5: DUKE COSIMO (14)
Trainer: Michael Herrington
Jockey: Phil Dennis

Former Stoute-trained sprinter has done well since joining Michael Herrington and although this is a tightly-knit handicap he can prove dangerous taking weight from all his rivals. He always requires luck in running but given some racing room at the business end he can earn.

Race 6: TIE A YELLOWRIBBON (9)
Trainer: James Bethell
Jockey: Danny Tudhope

Tudhope is buoyant after his experience of riding Lord Glitters into an honourable third placing behind Almond Eye in the Sheema Classic and that confidence can transmit down the reins on the ultra-consistent TIE A YELLOWRIBBON. The strong-travelling selection has a decent turn of foot and even though this is a competitive affair I think she's on the right mark to win.
