Nyakane Ruled out
Springbok tight head prop Trevor Nyakane will return to South Africa after tearing a right calf muscle during the Springboks 23 – 13 loss to the All Blacks. This will see Thomas du Toit fly into Japan as the replacement for the duration of the tournament – but should Nyakane recover he will be sent back to Japan to play what remains of the Rugby World Cup.
Faf de Klerk wrong starting choice?
Faf de Klerk’s kicking game and slow ball at the ruck might have hindered the Boks momentum in their 23 – 13 loss to the defending champions. The Sale Sharks man was not on his usual blistering form. And his performance was not at all what we expected hence Rassie should’ve given the in form Herschel Jantjies the start.
Boks caught ball napping
Leinert Brown’s ‘phantom’ move that saw him shift from the touchline back into play – before he ran around four defenders, breaking the line and passing to Scot Barrett who scored under the sticks. The question I ask – was it his pace or a lack of defence that the All Blacks make that try look so easy?

Cheslin Kolbe’s special moments
Watch the best highlight’s from Kolbe’s star performance in his 2019 world cup opener against the All Blacks. Kolbe was fantastic under the high ball, and in beating defenders. Unfortunately his two runs in the second half didn’t result in a converted opportunity.
Both teams will have a fairly easy run in their next upcoming pool matches and New Zealand should top the group at the end of the group stages with South Africa tipped to finish second. The Springboks will face Namibia on the 28th of of September while New Zealand will face Canada on the 2nd of October.
