Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: TALIA AL GHUL (4)
Jockey: W Kennedy Trainer: P Gadsby

TALIA AL GHUL placed in her four starts before given a 16 week rest. She is a speedy daughter of Master Of My Fate who always found one too good on the day. She would have strengthened up during her break and if not too green on her first run around the bend, should take a power of beating.

Race 2: BLACKBALL (2)
Jockey: W Kennedy - Trainer: G van Zyl

BLACKBALL was ultra-impressive when winning the Michaelmas Handicap, three weeks ago. He took the lead at the 200m mark and drew off well to win with a ton in hand. He meets a similar type of field this afternoon and can notch up the double.

Race 4: BABY SHOOZ (4)
Jockey: A Marcus - Trainer: B Crawford

BABY SHOOZ had to overcome a wide draw last time and that is what cost him winning the race. He came from a hopeless position that day and still raced green. The way he races suggests that he will be at home over the mile. The son of Jackson is having his second run after a rest and should have more to come. Anton Marcus is in the irons today and he will make sure that he is not too far out of his ground turning for home.

Jockey: S Veale - Trainer: G Kotzen

AMERICAN PRINCESS followed up her debut win with a good effort on the Polytrack over this distance. She had issues at the start once again but ran on well up the straight. The daughter of Master Of My Fate will enjoy returning to the turf as she was an impressive winner on this course. Sean Veale knows her well and the pair will be mowing down the frontrunners in the run down to the wire.

Jockey: K de Melo - Trainer: J Janse v/Vuuren

PEPPERMINT TEA has come back to form since racing in KZN. She raced from a handy position last time and challenged all the way to the line. The 5yo mare drops to the minimum trip this afternoon for the first time and that may be what she is looking for. She is having her peak run this afternoon and from a good draw, she may be tough to beat.
