Magic Tips Best Bets

Race 1: JAMES PETER (7)
Jockey: W Kennedy Trainer: G van Zyl
JAMES PETER made a promising debut over this distance on the Hollywoodbets Greyville turf track, three weeks ago. He started in the red that day, but understandably raced green. It must be noted that the form of that race has been franked. The son of Where's That Tiger would have gained from the experience and with the natural improvement, he should be hard to beat.

Race 2: ANNABERG (6)
Jockey: S Veale  Trainer: D Drier

ANNABERG has produced two fair starts to date. She still raced green in her last start on the grass, but the manner in which she was running on was encouraging. It must be noted that two horses that finished ahead of her that day have come out and won since. The daughter of Twice Over made an eye-catching debut over this c&d in September. She is drawn in pole position and gets the services of stable jockey Sean Veale for the first time.

Race 3: THE MASTER (1)
Jockey: S Veale - Trainer: D Drier

THE MASTER is yet to be unplaced in his last five starts. He set the pace in his last start but was outrun late in the closing stages by Noble Joshua who has won again since. His form on the Polytrack is promising with two wins, one second and one third from five outings. The son of Master Of My Fate comes off a 13-week break this afternoon and his conditioner is a master of getting his horses fit for their return. From pole position, he is likely to have his own way in front and may be hard to peg back in the closing stages.

Jockey: S Veale - Trainer:  F Robinson

ADORABLE ANALIA is in very good form with two second-place finishes in her last two starts. She was her own worst enemy last time as she overraced around the turn. She did, however, finish off the race well to get beaten a head at the post. The daughter of The Apache finished a head behind TWICE TO SYDNEY over this distance in her penultimate start and is 1.5kgs better off at the weights. That should be enough for her to turn the tables and from a midfield draw, she should be tough to beat.

Race 8: MAI TAI (8)
Jockey: W Kennedy - Trainer: W Bardenhorst

This is the most competitive race on the card and caution is advised. The narrow first selection goes to MAI TAI from the Wayne Badenhorst stable. She had excuses in her last start in the Devon Air Stakes but managed to finish just under four lengths behind What You Are who finished second in the Grade 2 Golden Slipper next time out. The daughter of Vercingetorix makes her seasonal and handicap debut this afternoon, but she looks to have some scope about her. Warren Kennedy takes the ride this afternoon and if fit and well, she could cause an upset.
